...I try to synchronize my blinker with the vehicle in front (if we're turning), if not, I attempt to clean up the dash a little bit.

I also try to catch any fellow motorists picking their nose.
What do you do to escape boredom ?

Hoot like hell to get the idiots in front to move their stupid arses, usually. I find it helps.

Well, if I am stuck for too long, I firstly cut my engine. (uncle Scrooge at work).

Apart from that, I usually jump from radio station to radio station in a desperate hope to find something interesting.

Fortunately for me, from where I live to where I work, there is no such thing as a Traffic Jam.

Cheers,

I usually curse other drivers out or something or rev my engine at them.

I usually stick on a tape and have a sing-a-long or phone a friend for a chat. Sometimes it's just nice to stay cool and have a good look at what's around;the buildings, the people, the scenery or whatever.

I fret and fume and then after realizing that won't make the traffic move any faster, light a ciggy and call a friend.

Last February I was stuck in a traffic jam close to St. Anton in Austria for 4 hours due to accident. After a while it started snowing and I could see how all the cars around me started to get snowed in. I had to keep the engine running to get heating. During this time I played games on my laptop until the batteries ran out, then I just listened to the radio. Then I also enjoyed watching the fuel indicator go down...
Finally after having waited 4 hours, a cop gave me permission to use the emergency lane to get out cause most cars were snowed in. Thats one time that it was good to have a SUV!

I search for a nice song on the radio to sing along, and in the meantime have a good look at what there is around me. You´d be surprised what there´s to see when you take the time to look around, even in places you´ve been zillions of times.

I usually put the seat back, switch the engine off and chill out. I might read my emails or play games on my PDA for a bit, read a book or just listen to the radio.

As Levent said - it's good to take a look around you, even on the road I get caught in every morning there's always something I've never seen before!

If its a regular street, I think about how if I timed the traffic lights I wouldn't be in traffic right now.

Lean over to the glove box and start thumbing around for something or pull out and read a road map. 9 out 10 times that I do that, I find that the traffic starts moving again.

It sure makes those red lights turn green.  Smile

I was stuck in traffic this evening. I try to look into other peoples cars to see what they are doing. I text my mates (naughty!), flick with the radio stations or change my CD over and sing along to the songs (very badly) while I tap the seering wheel. Not very much you can do really.

I pick my nose.

If it is really bad, then I get angry, boot my laptop and start a new Airbus vs. Boeing flamewar thread in the General Aviation forum. It usually helps.

I find if I'm stuck on the motorway in the summer, switch the engine off and open the door to let some fresh air in. 9 times out of 10 within 10 seconds you're moving again!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

On the day that I was driving home my new car I got stuck in traffic due to a 10 car nose to tail at the traffic lights that i was waiting at. Put the window down, turned off the engine, put the seat back a little bit, I put it back as mich as I could so I could just see over the steering wheel, incase the traffic started to move, listened to the sirens of the emergency vehicles who were attending the crash, and trying to work out if it was a fire, police or ambulance vehicle, got the emergency vehicle type 100% correct Smile, and then listened to the radio.

In other traffic jams, I always listen to the radio and just look around at the scenery. Its awesome when your stuck in a traffic jam and beside you is the sea Smile

Hmm, let me see, generally when I see a traffic jam I like to laugh at the motorists as I pass them on my push-bike, twice as quick and gives me much needed exercise  Big thumbs up Save that if I'm in a bus or car I put my headphones in and go to sleep, yep I'm that lazy!
