I think I'm going to treat myself this Christmas with a new gaming console. Yet it seems though that these two are nearly identical. My question is, to the owners of both systems, which is better and why? Both are the same price, both have roughly the same games, both can do DVD I believe, so what's the deciding factor for you guys?

Personally I prefer the PS2.

But if I were you I would wait a couple of months. As far as I know the PS3 will hit the streets in the near future. I would rather spend the money on that one if I were you.

OYRJA: Dont forget the PS3 will take a year for the bugs to be fixed and for the price to come down to something reasonable.

Theres a slimmer version of the PS2 been released recently, i would get that if I were you  Big thumbs up

XBOX! XBOX! XBOX!

Having played on both the PS2 and the Xbox, I must say, I'm impressed with the Xbox. The graphics and the refresh rates are much better on the xbox. I'm using the example of the game "Manhunt". There are several differences that I can plainly see when I play the game on PS2 and xbox (such as the appearance of shadows in the game etc).

So, go for the xbox  Big thumbs up

That is true of course. But if he don't buy the PS2 now he will have time to save some more money until the PS3 comes out  Big grin

But if he want's to buy it now I would also suggest the slim PS2. That one is pretty cool  Big thumbs up

PS2 PS2 PS2 - even if it's just so you don't line Bill Gates' pockets with more cash!

Seriously - Sony is way better than Microsoft and far cooler.

I don't accept your challenge. I took too long to get a PS2, so I never bought the 3rd GT.  Smile Just played it a few times. But I'll challenge you for a round of GT2 Big grin 80% complete or so.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I have a PS2 and would recommend it to anyone, you have the option of choosing over hundreds of games to suit your tastes. XBOX is a mean machine with massive processing power, but the ergonomics of it's controllers put me off. I never felt comfortable with it, whereas the PS2 controllers fit perfectly into your palms. In the end it's up to you, but there are some seriously good games out on the PS2 at the moment. today i bought Killzone.

Well if you have big hands like me then the XBOX is great. I personally have the XBOX and love it. In my opinion it has the best graphics and is fast. It is a computer as a mater of fact. In my opinion go for the XBOX.

Without a doubt XBOX. Big hands? Maybe if you buy the mega-old controllers, the new ones are fine. It's fast, has no lag, and has better graphics than PS2. I've played Vice City on PS2, then on XBOX, and it's way better on XBOX!

I've got an Xbox and I love it. I think it has better graphics and one of my favorite features is the massive built in memory. As far as the controllers go, there are many different sizes. They have the s-pad,and the original, the s-pad is smaller. Then they have many wireless controllers, they vary in size and in shape. Personally I prefer the Logitech wireless, I have big hands so it fits into my hands nicely. Also if your considering online gaming, Xbox has Xbox Live, I've played PS2s online gaming system (can't remember the name right now) and I didn't like it nearly as well. And of course Xbox has Halo and Halo2 Big grin
