Help With Outlook Express And Imap Folder Backup

I know a fair amount about PC's but use OE rarely...
Have a webmail acct for which I have downloaded all msgs into IMAP folders on local HDD...want to edit a large number of those msgs to remove unneeded text and put them back in OE so I can retrieve them...any ideas on how best to do this task? Thanks!

Fooling around with the content of these folders is risky at best. Iwould not advise it. It doesn't take up that much space anyways, does it ?
