Whats one thing you wish you could see or happen in your lifetime.
Mine would be for a city-sized piece of Asteroid or Comet to come smashing into Earth (preferably the Atlantic) and not only evaporate everything around it for thousands of miles, but to create a tidal wave that would destroy New York, Washington, Miami, Iceland, Ireland, Canary islands etc.
Just the sight of seeing the huge fireball slowly rising above the horizon, to see the clouds blow-back from the shockwave, to see a mushroom cloud envelop 3/4 of Earth.
Not only would it be a sight to see, it would be "good" for humans to realise that life is more than about money and work, and everyday is a survival and we'll be back in the dark ages again 200 years set-back.
It'll probobally wont happen in my lifetime, but its happened before in Earths history and WILL happen again, one day there'll be a NEO that'll catch us by surprise, then BANG!!!!

I'd go back into therapy if I were you, Planespotterx - clearly the electro-shock treatment failed to take.

Loony.

lol Jasepl just been reading up on the subject, according to the latest figures we've discovered 70% of all NEO's 1 mile across or bigger, to put that into perspective theres over 3500 NEO's that cross Earths orbit each year, each of those 3500 rocks is 1 mile across or bigger, that doesnt take into account Asteroids that come from the sun's direction or comets.
Also a new phenomenon is "Black" comets, so dark and "polluted" from grains and radiation that they are virtually undetectable.
IMO its not a question of if a asteroid/comet hits, its when, and all we can do about it is kiss our ass goobye as NASA doesnt have anything capable of delivering a nuclear payload into space, or have the money or time if a NEO was detected.
Could happen in the next minute, could happen next year, we dont know..

My first vote that comes to mind is for Planespotterx to seek professional help.

So the Arizona crater and the air-explosion over Tunguska never happened then...ok lol..., just look at the Moon to see how many times thats been hit, were a bigger target but sure our atmosphere does provide some protection from smaller rocks, but still theres evidence of craters all over the world from the USA to Australia, just these types of events only happen every few thousand years, anyone remember the last one since humanity walked the Earth..

I'd like to see Mt. St. Helens (located in southwestern Washington state for those not in the know) to completely rebuild it's pre-May 18th, 1980 cone. It used to be a thing of beauty to look at, so it would be great if all the recent activity led up to that event!  Big thumbs up

Only one problem. They won't live to see that "life is more than about money and work". And neither will you.

200 set-back? 200 years ago was 1804. We (the U.S.) were already an independent nation, and nowhere NEAR the stone age OR the dark ages...

Wrong, asteroids have already hit the earth.

You can see asteroid craters on the moon with your own eyes as well.

You´re sick. Please don´t post again unless you´ve taken your medication.

EA CO AS: 1. The invention and widespread use of hydrogen engines with the same performance as a gasoline-powered internal combustion engines.

What for? Hydrogen is merely an energy carrier, not an energy source. It solves absolutely nothing unless you´ve got the much larger change of having environmentally friendly means of generating hydrogen, not just creating it from oil again.

Hydrogen technology is by far the least of our problems; And mostly solved anyway. The generation of hydrogen is the problem.

I would like to see them constuct a huge solar dish in space which could collect energy at a much greater intensity than a earth mounted one. Then we would have almost unlimited power.

Then an army of robots could do all the jobs in life such as building houses, washing, healthcare, education ect.

I could sit on my ass in the sun all day.

ahh

I would like to see A.net have a way in the forums for the originator to lock their own forum topic. Take for instance a topic that is: New United 747-400 livery at SFO right now!!!
Maybe the next day they could lock the topic so it can slide down the page faster. I know you can suggest the crew do it. It would be nice if we could do it ourselves.

Hey, gotta agree with Planespotterx, that would be a cool sight to watch  Big thumbs up....from another planet perhaps, but I wouldn't want to be here when that happens....

That's wrong. Asteroids have hit earth before, did you see the comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 that hit Jupiter in 1994? If it can happen to Jupiter, it can surely happen to Earth also.
