You are a TRUE Kiwi!

I never even heard of the drink until I moved here and all my mates drink it. It's as rough as a bear's arse but then Guinness doesn't really exist down here does it? Insane

It does if you are willing to pay a whole load of money for an imported beer, even though it is top class.

A good single malt Scotch will always have it over that American SO-CALLED whisk(e)y. Or ANY Irish, espicially Paddy.

But the Mexicans have it with.........TEQUILA!!!!

Tequila? Bat piss made from mouldy cactus.

Now Absolut vodka or malt whisky....that's different! Or even a good brandy now and again....

I've even come across some French vodka of late. Expensive but extremely nice.

I haven't seen it for a long time but my tastebuds have orgasms just thinking about Smirnoff Dark Mars Bar vodka. It was served from the freezer neat or (at a push) over ice. It was in a bar in Liverpool and I was happily necking the stuff until I tried to stand up and my legs decided to go in the opposite direction to the rest of my body....

Personally, I think tequila is the reason I got so damn sick last time I drank. Plus, unlike the rest of what I was drinking, I had to take a break after the tequila.

Tequila, in the view of one bar owner I knew, said it isn't a alcoholic beverage, it is a drug. That stuff, except for the top shelf product, is like LSD when consumed in large quanities. I would only recommend it in moderate use with Margaritas.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Tequila is the alcohol I drink most often. A margarita, with Patron tequila...delicious! It's never gotten me sick, but then I don't drink that much of it. Why does tequila have this reputation of being a 'bad' liquor?

Oh April, I'm so disappointed in you! Wasting a top-shelf tequila like Patron in a margarita? For shame.. leave that to cheaper tequilas! Patron should be savored and enjoyed!

Hmmm.. other favorites are Tradicional and Don Julio Blanco. I  Love tequila!

Steve, top shelf margaritas are never wasted when they are savoured, whatever form they are in! Besides, I can't handle many straight shots of tequila...and I outgrew that sort of thing years ago.  Smile

Cheaper tequilas...never!!  Smile

If you ever lucky enough to be on Cuba Street in Wellington, look out for the Tequila bar. All tequilas seem to be accounted for there and range in price from NZ $8 to $50 per shot! I thought I had died and gone to lush Heaven. (I nearly did too!  Nuts)

I'm gonna hate me for this, but I have to be honest. Tequila sucks, period. Brandy and rum on the other hand are pure heaven. However, I'd never say no to a Margarita, which would be unpatriotic! Big thumbs up

Those who say its bad or have gotten sick off it either:

A) Don't have the stomach to endure large quantities of tequila.
B) Went on a bender and took a bunch of straight shots (tequila can be quite unforgiving in these instances).
C) Drank some cheap-ass tequila like Cuervo on said bender, which will kick your ass and make you swear off the stuff or...
D) All of the above.
