"Why are we here"
Plain and simple: Cause our mommies and daddies decided to go at it unprotected one night, and they just might have had the intent of having a child.

British soldiers in WW2 have found the solution and expressed it in a song (goes to the tune of Auld Lang Syne):
"We´re here because we´re here because we´re here because we´re here! We´re here because we´re here because we´re here because we´re here; we´re here because we´re here because we´re here because we´re here, we´re here because were here because we´re here because we´re here!"

The purpose of life is to obey to God, to spread its law, and get its great recompense if we succeed in that great mission.
Life is nothing but a "passport" to a everlasting existance, in peace or in punishment, God bless all The result depends on what we did during the exam; the current life, "below" !!!

To eat, sleep and breed and make war on our neighbors. And when we get too old to sire sons anymore the tribe is free to disembowel us and read their future in our guts.
Ever turn off an old-fashioned television set and watch the gun narrow down to the center of the tube and leave a white spot there for ten minutes or so?
Well the famous "light at the end of the tunnel" is sort of like that. As we die and our flashbulb in an eternity of darkness is coming to an end, the light we see is just the last of our perceptions narrowed down like that before we wink out forever.
At least that is what I hope for.

We're here to have the best time possible in a sh!tty world...at least that's how i see it. But to get a little more serious, i don't think there's any purpose to life except to actually live it......if you figure it out then let me know, coz then i'll have to get you working on figuring out women!!! That's the holy grail right there, hehe
Cheers

Ya, now, chicks are what I've given up trying to figure out. Life is so so simple compared to trying to figure out a woman.
I guess trying to define the meaning of life, is like trying to define everything with one ambiguous word.
I'm too lazy to explain.
Anyway, my opinion is that the meaning of life is struggle. That's as specific as I can get to defining something so ambiguous.
I believe that there is a God, because it makes more sense to me. I also believe that the planet is billions of years old, not thousands. I'm rambling.
Thom@s:Monty Python made an entire film on the subject many years ago, and still you ask...
Ya I couldn't figure the movie out either. It was hysterical.
Ts-ior:The result depends on what we did during the exam; the current life
I believe that life is a test. Everyone is trying to prove something, whether to God, to people, or to themselves.

It is a shame that nost people here have not tried to provide a serious answer to Thecoz question...which leads me to think that certainly those who have replied with jokes and funny comments have no idea whatsoever about the meaning of life.
By the way, I certainly still can't get it right myself, why the hard work, why to spend too many years studying, working, raising children, seeking for love, finding love, suffering the break ups, etc, etc, etc, if, the only thing we have for sure is our death?
Of course the religious argument tries to tell us the reason, but still for some of us, even God believers (I'm Catholic), can´t understand why God keeps on playing dices with our lives.
