Hey folks
Just played the HL2 demo. The graphics are pretty sweet. Somthing about the storyline doesn't seem as interesting as the first. I guess killing zombies is getting a little old you know. Although HL1 had zombies too but it also had the alien angle. I did kinda like the 'big brother' opening theme story though.

Your impressions?

Multiplayer is f*ing awesome......the ability to carry double weapons, fly certain warcraft, etc etc. Get me in the squarpion, game's over....I just stay high and make strafing runs the whole time  Big grin

Also loved the purple elevator thingeys that float you up.

Hey Pilottj,

Didn't know the demo was available now.. wanted to test the rig before buying it; she's probably too slow...

Thanks! We'll let you know how it goes...

Single player is superb as well. I`m about 2/3`s through it and what has struck me is that is very varied, whether you be driving a buggy or airboat or fighting your way through buildings or solving puzzles to continue. There are a couple of nice new weapons as well.

The zombies only make up a small part of your foe, a lot of the fighting is against emeny soldiers who seem to have a certain amount of intelligence, i.e. they don`t stand there and get shot, they will duck behind cover or try and outflank you.

HL1 was a hard act to follow, but IMO valve have done a very good job on HL2.

It's a good game, almost as good as Halo 2 on Xbox but definitely the best shooter on PC

Halo 2 can't hold a candle to Half-Life 2. Halo 2 is just a revamped halo 1 with the same repetitive boring leveldesign and the "new exciting feature" dual-wielding!! Big wow, takes up 2/3s of the screen and has been available in pc-games for years and years.

Halflife2 will see many additions coming, like Day of Defeat : source and many other mods. Best FPS made so far for any platform ever. However the Deathmatch is not as good as HL1:DM was. Without the Tau Cannon its just not the same =).

Half Life 2 is the second-best game of the year (after Far Cry). I just won it, and I'm going through a second time.

Dude i own them both too, + heaps of all the other FPSs Ive played through the years. Saying halo 2 is better doesnt really make sense. It offers nothing new, nothing. HL2 has the magnificent physics engine, the mods, counterstrike, proper controls (fps with a joypad? blows!).

HL2 is the winner, anyone who knows anything knows that.
