Well, I am starting this early as I will be away from the computer most of the day, so I will sit in the victory position and hold my breath while trying to not jinx my Falcons by doing so.

It is still not clear whether Vick or Schaub will start and it does not matter to anyone other than Atlanta fans and Haslett. Haslett has to win to keep his job, and we want to win if Vick is out for confidence purposes, or at least see Schaub do as well in regular play as he did in preseason play.

This weekend's football should be terrific. The Pack sealed the deal and Denver stayed alive for the playoff hunt.

Hope everyones Christmas went well, and that we all have gotten ready for the plethora of football coming up over the next week or so.

ESPN has got to be just thrilled to have the Browns v. Dolphins as their Prime Time game.

Just thrilled that it'll get such a small ratings.

Eagles play Monday night, but I'll be going to the Dolphins-Browns game tonight just to see how bad they are in person...I expect actual attendance for this game to be extremely low, despite the game being "sold-out"

Hey, its an important game as far as who goes first in the draft slot playoffs.

The Falcons just lost. Matt Schaub had his introduction to the NFL, he was doing ok at first with his receivers dropping some passes they should have caught, and showed some decent stuff, but made rookie mistakes with more than a couple of interceptions.

We need to be better prepared against Seattle next week, as we need some momentum.

The Steelers dominated the Ravens today, holding Jamal Lewis to just 26 yds on 14 carries, winning 20-7 and clinching a first-round bye and homefield advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

However, Ben Roethlisberger was driven into the ground on a TD pass by Terrelle Suggs. Ben had to come out and I hear he's been taken to the hospital.

Falcon84 --

This is how the Detroit Free Press TV Book describes tonights prime time ESPN game in the Sunday Night listings: NFL FOOTBALL Cleveland Browns at Miami Dolphins. The Browns travel to Miami to take on the struggling Dolphins.  Smile

Boy oh boy...Ol' Santa gave the Detroit Lions a day-late Christmas present this afternoon....A minute and a half to go....Lions lead the Bears 19-13....Bears QB Chad Hutchinson throws a 43 yard pass to Bernard Berrian in the corner of the end zone....ref rules it incomplete. Replays showed that Berrian got both feet in bounds and had possession of the ball.... Touchdown to tie the game.... Play is challenged from the booth...after reviewing the tapes, ref still rules it an incomplete pass. It was a TD, no doubt about it. Lions win.

The Rams will play tomorrow but I'll go ahead and guess how they'll do. Despite being a fan of my home team, I have to be realistic and say that the Rams (6-8) will probably lose to the Eagles (13-1). But who knows, after New England's defeat to the Dolphins last Monday - a lot can happen.

That play was unbelieveable! It's unfortunate that even after a booth review the refs can't get the call right. In some cases there are close calls that can go either way, but this was obviously a blown call by the referees...it just wasn't even close. Both the local broadcasters and national broadcasters have been all over this. Oh well...at least it wasn't a game that affected either team's playoff hopes since both teams were out of reasonable playoff contention before the game.

As reported, the Steelers trounced the Ratbirds.

However, Ben Roethlisberger was driven into the ground on a TD pass by Terrelle Suggs. Ben had to come out and I hear he's been taken to the hospital.

From what I'm hearing, Ben has bruised ribs and will be out two weeks, so hopefully it won't alter the playoff picture too much. Real cheap shot by Suggs, IMO, but then again, the Ravens aren't exactly known as the classiest team in the league, so what else can one expect from Baltimore? It is kind of ironic though that the Ravens took out Maddox, causing Roethlisberger to be the starter and now, with Big Ben out thanks to the Ratbirds, Tommy Gun will get at least one start.

Nice to see the Steelers pick up home field advantage...hope we don't squander it this year!

Also, nice to know that Santa is a Steelers fan

And, in the Futility Bowl, the Dolphins beat the Browns, 10 to 7, in one of the most inept, boring, and useless games in the history of the NFL.

Congrats to the Browns, for securing, at least, the #2 pick in next year's NFL draft.

What a pathetic football game!  Laugh out loud

In person, it was quite an amusing game actually...by the second quarter, my dad had caught on that basically all the Browns were doing was handing it off to Lee Suggs, time after time again, and it became a running joke between us and some friends that kept us laughing for the entire game basically...Suggs set a new Browns record with 38 carries in the game, and we wanted overtime to see him hit 40...but twas not to be...needless to say I think the Browns are the worst team I've ever seen (nothing personal Falcon)...I think my former HS football team, which went winless this year, could probably beat them easily after what I saw...I see many ugly years ahead for Browns fans.

I certainly don't take it personally, because I agree. I really do. It isn't a matter of effort, because there's not doubt they play hard every week, but when you have no talent, you have no chance.

...I see many ugly years ahead for Browns fans.

I think Charger Fan was saying the same thing last year, don't you? And while I think it will take the Browns a few years to rebuild, after a GM and a new coach is hired, the beauty about this league (or the ugliness of it, depending on your perspective), is that if you draft right for a year or two, and make judicious free agent pickups, you can become a contender.

Last year, the Steelers were as bad as the Browns; now, they're favored to go to the Super Bowl; the Chargers and the Bill sucked big time last year, and they're both steaming into the playoffs. Parity isn't great for old-school purists, but it can be a godsend for a struggling franchise.

Well, your own radio announcers aren't very optomistic about your outlook as well...on the pregame radio show here, they interviewed your radio sideline reporter, Casey Coleman I think his name was, and he was saying he thinks the Browns are more than 2 or 3 years away from even contending for the playoffs...

Yes, and the Browns won 5. And that shows my point. There's two difference between the Browns and Steelers going into this season: 1. As usual, they drafted well, and 2. they had more solid talent last year, that was in place to improve things.

The Pack took care of business in that exciting Christmas eve game in Minnesota. Its hard to get too high on the Pack after their mauling in Philly and 4 home losses this year, though. Looks like Carolina (or N.O.) will probly be coming in for the wild card game- which they could very well win. Still, Favre can still have magical games and I hope hes got another great playoff run left in him. Last year was the year though, it should have happened, it was their year to go to the Super Bowl...

Bears lose due to a blown call.....

But they've improved their chances at getting a higher draft pick which they could use to get a stud O-lineman or wide receiver.

God, I watched the Browns-Dolphins game, and it was quite a circus. In the 3rd quarter where the ball got intercepted by the Dolphins, then fumbled, then fumbled again, then intercepted back by the Browns. Then the missed field goal by the browns that hit the post. It was quite a boring game.
