With the recent troubles sustained by the Firestone Tire Company.......I was wondering if anybody here at Airliners.Net had ever experienced any difficulties with Firestone products?

Thank you.

Well, My dad drives a Crappy 2001 Rollover Prone Deathtrap Ford Explorer with the Firestone Wilderness AT's. They look fine but I'm sitll getting his changed.

Speaking of tire problems I had problems with my Goodyears yesterday. I was only driving 35 MPH on the highway (17/92) and looked back to make sure I wasnt cutting anyone off. I lost control and the car spun out of control and onto the median facing the other direction. It bent the rim and screwed up the steering alignment. I took it down to Sears to get new tires and allignment. Worn tires were the cause of the problem.

I got the deather tires on my 2001 Explorer and have had no problems. Still going to get the replaced though. Had them on my 99 Explorer too and the only problem I had was I got a nail caught in between the nail and sidewall and had to have that one tired replaced. No pieces of tire falling off for me. But then I have the 16 tires, which are included in the new recall.

As Jay Leno said...

Firestone tires = Tombstone tires.

Well my b/f went and put Firestone tires on his car (without consulting me) but they are pretty decent. They are awfully loud, when he turns a corner they sound like monster truck tires. These are Firestone Firehawk GTA tires.

Get this... My industrial arts teacher was talking to us about cars and I asked him about Firestone Wilderness At tires and he said that the tires may not be the greatest, but it is the way the people are driving them is what the problem is. He said that most people who used to drive sports cars are driving SUV's now and they are handling and driving them like sports cars, which SUV's are meant to be driven and handled like that. Pretty interesting huh?

Blink182: yeah thats pretty much correct. The drivers of them are letting the tires get uninflated, they are overloading them and they are going 90mph on them. The tires were not designed for all the above so thats when problems happen. Anways, I dont hate firestone tires because of the tread seperation. I hate them because they pale in comparison to similar Michelin or Goodyear tires.
