These guys take themselves a bit too seriously, but they're saying and doing a good thing. And they'll exchange your sh*tty Ashlee Simpson CD for a disc of an honest, talented artist like Elvis Costello or Ray Charles for free.

I will never fork over my coveted Ashlee Simpson CD, I worked hard for that. I'm looking forward to her upcoming 'Unplugged' album.

Stop the arguing and the insults, this website needs to reach the masses. In fact, this may be one of the most important Non-Av posts ever. Finally, an apparently organized effort to "out" the bullcorn that's passing for talent and celebrity in the United States. Holy crap, I've been looking for this for years and just didn't know it. Thank you Mark.

Thom@s...Are you unemployed because you got fired ERRRRRRRRRRRRRR laid off, or because you just don't want/need a job right now. There is a difference.
And to get a Striking out Piazza, one needs to make a joke, or a post that totally misses the mark. Like trying to be funny, but you weren't etc.

I actually heard a "live" version of one of Ashlee's songs, where it really did actually sound like she was singing. Now she didn't sound bad, but it isn't like she is a good singer either. Her voice sounded a bit manish actually.

Why are some people so vocal about their hatred for other genres? You don't listen to it, what do you know? So you have conviction; fine, get out of born-again syndrome and stop selling your interests to people who may actually be happy with what they have. Of course those people should not be ignorant, inform them then stop, heck inform yourself while you're at it.
What's worse is that there are people who are afraid to come out of the closet due to peer pressure...given it 5-10 years it will seem pointless to some. Others will be patriots for life, which is fine too; I don't want to be one.
FYI, I don't listen to Ashlee Simpson, I have a few of her sister's tracks but I'm not about to slam her.

Ever try not paying attention? If say you insist on a channel (radio or tv) then you are forcing it down your own throat. It make no sense to scream just because it exists. Do something about it that does not cause people to ignorantly slam back at you for no damned reason.

When the major labels have their way, shit like Ashlee Simpson is all that gets distributed to the consumer, and to mainstream radio. Because of this innocuous genre, we pay our money to listen to what are essentially empty commercials.
It's really hard to find music in mainstream outlets that hasn't been churned out by a 59-year-old Jewish dude in New York City to be pumped through a bunch of teens whose only virtue is that they're attractive, through Pro Tools, and into the marketing machine. These people are rotting artistic culture from the inside. You may not be a culture guy, but, for people who are, damn right it's worth majking a stink about. We need this kind of low-level revolution.

On the contrary, I am musically cultured, I listen to just about any genre without disturbance. I know how marketing in the certain music genres works, most people slam one side in order to show the customer what is better. Prespective is an issue. I don't see how any music is more cultured than the other, that is a person distinction and must be recognized as such. To say, "I don't want to" is your right. To say "I don't want you to" is not your problem.
>>" These people are rotting artistic culture from the inside."<<
Who's culture, yours or someone elses? If else, then not yours. If you are trying to limit the meaning of culture as you see it within a few boundries, then you have accepted an authority, that which has control over you and dictates what you like. How is this different than the music industry shoving shit [that you don't like] down other ppl's throat? If you want to change things do so by changing your attitudes towards them first, not screaming about what sucks; be your own authority, don't follow another. Make a website. But don't be ignorant about it or you'll never stop hearing from me.
Look, the chances that anyone would see anything in whatever anyone doesn't believe are zero. So for me to tell you that from my perspective people are attracted to any form of music for their own cultural purposes that which may not fit your cultural acceptance, that they would not be as cultured is pointless, right? If you learned anything just now, let me know, because usually people of conviction don't ask questions, they think they know enough. In fact ppl have made decisions about me based on this or my other posts.
My point is that unless you listen to a particular song/artist/band/group/genre, you opinion is only valid if you know it. What could you possibly say that has any value if you don't listen to it to begin with? I can say I don't listen to Bob Marley, but I can't say I don't like his music. Being forced to listen to music won't mean you know it, mainly cuz you don't want to, hence you don't know what you're talking about; you just know your feelings about it not the music itself. I raised the same point 4 times; somebody has got to have gotten it...
