OK..I have a linksys router and I'm trying to hook my daughter's Gateway laptop to it. According to device manager, it's a "broadcom" network card (on the mother board).
I can get it to see the network..but..doing so requires, each time I boot it, to
go to network connections, click on the wirelss connection, properties, click
a couple of things, and then "OK" and "OK" again and it is on the network..but..I cannot connect to the net. I've reset the modem and router, my destkop and my other daughter's desktop connect just fine.
I did buy a linksys card a couple weeks ago for use with her laptop and I'm thinking of just using it rather than the card that came with it.
Does anyone have any suggestions about what I might be doing wrong?
I've gone through the set up steps several times.

That is very odd. I have XP SP2, and when I connected my router, my computer and laptop automatically configured to use the router. I would look in the "Network and Internet Connections" part of the control panel, and run some of the wizards, and see if that helps.

Ok..will give that a try..what I like about the linksys stuff I bought for the other systems in the house, they came with a CD to configure it all..took about 10 minutes each. This one in the laptop had to set it up myself and I prolly screwed something up somewhere

Fixed..finally called tech support, after the 3rd time got someone who listened to the story before they sent me off to call another number. Appears the system didn't see the network card correctly or some crazy thing. running IPCONFIG
didn't find it. Removed it using device manager, rebooted, and the card pretty much configured things correctly, all I had to to was enter the key..and my
daughter is on the air.
