This summer were gonna be having lots of rolling blackouts I bet. Weve had a few her in Ca already. I myself kind of like black outs. It gives us all a sense of how primative man lived his life when the sun went down. Anyways, what do you all do to keep busy durring blackouts? I like to sit on my roof and watch the stars. Anyone?

Sleep.

Money does not bring you happiness. But it's better to cry in your own private limo than on a cold bus stop.

We have a generator that we wheel around to the side of the house, plug in, and start up. I watch TV.

Get the candles out or light the fireplace. Invite other couples over and play strip Twister. Also, have a neighborhood cookout and grill ALL the food in your freezer.

Well it would be very unusual for any blackouts to occur in California during the nighttime hours, since it's the heavy use of energy during the workday that drains resources. Energy use appears to peak during the late afternoon/early evening hours and then decline thru the night. That's because: 1) heat is highest at that time; and 2) people are working all day and then go home.

That's not to say a stretch of really, really hot weather wouldn't drain resources so much that it COULD extend into the night, but not likely.

So don't use that as an excuse to boink your significant other by candlelight.....if your looking for an excuse, that is.

Do what people did at my work during a rolling black out in March. Yell and scream and pretend to panic and then go out on to the balconies and wave at the KCAL 9 news helicopter orbiting over head as if it is their only savior, then, when the power comes back on act as if nothing out of the ordinary ever happened.

As I live in a rural area black outs from thunderstorms with fallen power lines are common about 6 per year.
Our family own a laptop, when power black out occurs I dial up the internet and come and have a look here airliners.net . TV doesn't work, no lights but the computer and internet connection available.

Why fly non stop when you can connect
