I'm going to buy a video editing program for my PC pretty soon, but I'm not very "in to" this sort of software. So far everyone I've talked to have reccomended Pinnacle. But it's kinda expensive, so I'm not quite sure if it's worth it.

I'm going to investigate a bit more in the shops tomorrow, but I thought I'd check if any of you guys have any experience with Pinnacle, and if you think it's any good?

One thing in paticular I'm wondering is, can you edit any type of video file, or is it restricted to a certain type of file? (I've got some Quick time files I'd like to edit together for example)

Any help or info on the product is welcome.  Smile

Hmm...

Okay, let's say I video something using a camcorder. Then I put this piece of video footage onto my computer. I assume it will be saved as a certain type of video file (like Windows Media file for example). Now I presume I can easily edit this video file using Pinnacle. But can I use Pinnacle to edit video files that are already on the computer, and also are of a different file type than, in this case, windows media?

Hope you get what I'm trying to ask here...  Smile

The simple answer is YES, you can....

You can import your files from different sources, edit in Pinnacle, then when you're finished, to export the file onto DVD or to digital tape or whatever, you "render" the file in the file format you want (depending on speed of your computer, this final step can take awhile).

A short update here... I've ordered Pinnacle 8 from a shop now. Not that expensive and it should do for simple editing. Never wanted anything fancy...  Smile

So I think I'm set. I'll start a "help me" thread as soon as I get stuck in the program. (Shouldn't be long...)
