How Many Users Are Really Active On Airliners.net?

We now have about 8000 people registered here, but it doesn't seem near 8000 different users are using the forums. I'd say about 500 out of this 8000 are active on Airliners.net forums.

So, how many users do you think actively use the forum?

I think about 2500-3000 people use it. But take away all the clones, you may only have about 6000 memebers.

ON second thought, I'd increase my # to 1000. I don't think I see more than 1000 different usernames active on the forums.

Do usernames get deleted if they're inactive for a while?

I'm sure a lot of people register, make a few posts, then lose interest. (Not that the forums are unintersting at all, honestly!)

And the amount that actually regularly post must be a fraction of the 8,000 people actually registered. A lot of people have several usernames.

Surely that Johan blokie could delete all names that are inactive for more than a few months. Or urge people to just register once.

I'm active. I'm on airliners.net every single day, altho I don't necessarily post anything every single day. I'm always reading what the others have to say. If there's something I feel strongly about, I'll say something. Otherwise I'm just asking questions & giving answers if I know the answers. And I only use ONE username, that's all. I don't see the need for more than one. It's pointless. Regards.

I'm just like FlagshipAZ. I have read the forum every day for almost three years, except when I have been away on a trip. I don't post unless I feel that I have something worthwhile to say. I don't read every post, just the ones that interest me. That's why it's so important to give your post a meaningful title. I have probably missed many good posts just because of the vague titles.

I'm active, I just usually save my posts for areas I can contribute some knowledge too. Or ask questions that haven't been posted before. But I'm on pretty much everyday.

I'm Active but I don't post very often. I come to the fourms about 4-6 times a day just to read through the new topics. (I also try to come on when I am at school but that does not usually work.)

That's a point. Inactive users should be deleted. (Inactive = people not posting after 30 days)

Good riddance.

Hello,

Ah Singapore_Air, you must be joking! A user deleted after 30 days??? You know, if someone breaks their computer, there is a death in the family, they are in the middle of a few weeks of exams etc..., there is a good chance that they don't have the time to post for 30 days. I know a good few users who have dissapeared for more then 30 days but have then returned. 60-120 days might be a better number.

I'd guess about 100 active users. It's usually the same folks posting and responding. Rarely any new ones with good insight. My impression is the people who have any airline and airplane knowledge quickly tire of the silliness, ignorance and immaturity on the forum

i am active!  Smile

although my knowledge of aviation is very little, I am always wanting to learn something new. mosts of my posts are questions, and i try to answer when I know the answer. some users on here really really know aviation and i wish to learn from the gurus!  Smile

i am offended that people say get rid of the immature 13 year olds. not all 13 year olds are immature. i wish people would think twice before sterotypicalizing.

btw, i dont mean to get anybody mad at me, and i apologize if i have offended anybody.

OK Teahan. 40 days (usually a holiday is 30 days)

I also think re-registering once in a while is of benefit.

Hello,

Singapore_Air, maybe your holiday is usually 30 days, but what about other people who go on RTW trips for 80 days, who go on exchange to another country for a few months etc....?

BTW, why is re-registering once in a while a benefit? I fail to see any valid reasons....

OK Fine! FOrget it

Welol to re-register. It might not benefit us, however it would benefit the site as they inactive ones (people who have just posted once in a 6 months or so), and.

Oh never mind!

I am here everyday except on vacation or camp, and Singapre_Air, it should be a period of about 120 days at least, last summer I was gone for 45 days in a row and this summer I'll be gone for 30 days in a row, yet I'lll still want to have my username around when I get back...
