I am a junior at a University in the San Francisco Bay Area. For the past three days there have been very loud/violent sounds coming from the roof (I live on the top/3rd floor). The building shakes for about 30 seconds while the sound happens. It sounds like a GIANT suitcase rolling back and forth or a VERY VERY big and loud sewing machine.

Any Ideas or comments about this bizarre situation? It has been happening every 15 minutes this morning from 6:45am to now....8:45am.

My mom has a strange habit of getting up on the roof of tall buildings. Once they had to bring in a special crane from out of state to remove her from the top of a 6 story building. She was thrashing around so much during the whole ordeal that the straps of her harness nearly broke. Boy, she can buck! Don't get close to those hooves!

Signed,

Maybe Santa and his sleigh got stuck???

Or you could just go find your HD and ask what is going on.

1.) Go look for yourself and see whats up.

2.) Will somebody PLEASE get TheCoz some new material, because he has absolutely killed the possibility of even a slightly funny mom joke directed towards Cedarjet.

We have called Campus Safety (a.k.a. Rent a Cop), the Housing Office and our Resident Director. Allsay someone will look at it.

There are alot of squirrels up here....maybe a huge one got a sewing machine on wheels. Or it could be someones deranged mother...that is what it sounds like.

Aloha!

Air Conditioning machine going out?

Bad Compressor.

It would start periodically as you described.

Get a tape recording of it and give it to the building maintance guys.

You know, back home in Texas, we'd just go up there and "air it out". Just be sure to yell, "It's coming right at us!" before you pull the trigger.
