Plymouth, South West England - 6. Poor because the city is overrun with 'swills' and 'burberry swills' who get drunk on cider then follow you round saying 'er bey, du yu wanna fite' in a jannerish accent. Worse even than Chavs
Small town in Menorca, Spain - 10. You could go out and leave your house unlocked all day, only minor problem are the tourists in summertime.

Where I live in Sussex I would say 8. My brother lives in the wilds of Lincolnshire, a recent local paper headline said "Box of nails stolen from shed, Police investigating"!! With such serious crime I rate his area a 1

Tampa probably 5 or 6. People think it is safe, but there is something like 900 violent crimes per 100,000 people. Pretty high! Miami is like 600 and New York 400. I live in a pretty good area though, so for me personally, probably an 8.

In a ranking of the entire USA, my city was ranked ninth safest. Sterling Heights, Michigan. It was actually seventh last time around, must of been a cat in tree somewhere. http://www.morganquitno.com/cit02pop.htm
The funny thing is, if you travel too far south, (you guys have seen 8 mile right? LOL) you end up on the top of the other list!

St. Louis is unfortunately #3 on the last...and we have tried FOR YEARS to top the list. Someday, perhaps, we might succeed. Until then, we shall at least take the top for stolen cars. That's pretty respectable, isn't it?

The current neighborhood of Portland I live in is great. I would say 9. I have seen some parts of North Portland that I would rate as 4. Everyone at work gives me deliveries to Chinatown at night. They are scared to go there. My co-workers say the homeless people are scary. Bah. I have never had any problems in Chinatown. People ask if I am looking for anything I just say "No, man, I'm good" and keep walking. What is so scary about that?

For all you British A.Netters, I have moved from Stoke-on-Trent UK
(Not a great place as I'm sure you're aware!)
Sherbrooke, WQuebec, Canada
(A very safe place, except that theres nothing to do here apart from watch the snow)
SO I feel much safer here, you can go into a bar and just have a beer and read a book, you couldn't do that in Stoke without fear of being beaten up!

I have been to Stoke-on-trent....not really a nice place.
Well I live in Bournemouth, Dorset population 163.000 (as of last census)
Overall I will give it a 7. loads of chavs and the town centre can get quite rough on weekends (drunk fights and stuff) and also depends on the "hood" but it is pretty safe.
I think, therefore I don´t fly Ryanair.
: Hi MIAspotter.. that sounds like stoke too! PS. Whats a chav? Regards kieron
: With Manchester it really depends on where you are and when, for my part here in Astley (in the north) I'd say 6/7. Central Manchester I'd say 8 and t
: Santa Barbara, CA: 9.5 Pretty boring, actually. The most heavily armed people here are Oprah's security guards.
: London borough of Barking & Dagenham East London U.K.: 3 (and it is very much) Athens - Greece: 7-8 depends on the neighborhood
: Hmmm OK 5 for North Vancouver, but nothing people-related. Bears wander through neighbourhood night and day; keep doors closed Occasional cougar sight
