Some French.. I can write comprehensible sentences, read a French newspaper with some stumbling, but get the general point. My pronunciation is horrible at best, and I can't understand it when spoken 'avec vitesse' for lack of a better word.
Many German words are similar to English words. I hope one day to study the language of the people responsible for my field of study... Mechanical Engineering.
I envy Europeans in terms of language. Learning a foreign language is a necessity in the EU as many countries are small and commutes can take you into different areas speaking different languages. The closest we get to this experience here in America is driving north to south where we go from comprehensible, proper American English to southern drawl.
