Today is the 10th anniversary of a cop killing in New Orleans.
While all murders are tragic, this killing struck new chords in the city here for many reasons, but one reason primarily.....you see, this policeman was killed.....by another cop.
On March 4, 1995 New Orleans Police officer Ronnie Williams was performing a security detail at the Kim Ahn restaurant on the eastern side of New Orleans. The Kim Ahn was, and still is, operated by a quiet and law-abiding Vietnamese family.
Another NOPD officer, Antoinette Frank, who was considered a friend by the family that rowned the Kim Ahn, decided, along with her boyfriend, known druggie Rogers Lacaze, to rob the restaurant early that morning.
During the course of the robbery, Officer Williams, along with Cuong Vu, and Ha Vu, were brutally shot in cold blood.
After the murders/robbery, Frank dropped off Lacaze at a residence, then came back to the Kim Ahn to murder two other members of the Vu family, they had hidden in the restaurant during the original robbery. When she got back to the restaurant, other NOPD officers were already on the scene beginning their investigation.
During questioning, and the trials themselves, both Frank and Lacaze implicated the other, both were found guilty, and both sentenced to death.
Antionette Frank, by the way, is the only female currently on Louisiana's death row.
This killing is believed to be the only known case of a police officer murdering another police officer.
In addition, a superb book written by a retired ATF agent, recently released, gives an excellent account of the murder/robbery, backgrounds on both Frank and Lacaze, as well as background on corruption that was ongoing in the NOPD at the time. The book can be found at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...2-7880189-3132837?v=glance&s=books
Rest in peace, Officer Williams, and Ha and Cuong Vu.

There is nothing worse than a dirty cop, but espessialy one that kills another cop. I doubt that this is the First time a Cop killed a Cop. It does happen.

Any way LA can put her on the fast track for the death chamber?

As we all know, the appeals process for a death sentence is exceedingly long. I just came back from a book signing the author of the above book did at our local Barnes and Noble. He had no ideas to a timeline or a guess as to when either of the sentences would be carried out, but he thought that Lacaze would be the first to go.
