Hello everyone, I just got back from a two week vacation in Cuba.
I had a great time!
The people in Cuba are some of the nicest people in the world. They really treated me like family.
Going to Cuba was like going back 40 years in time. Eveything is so cheap!
Beer $0.85 to $1.00. Food $2.00 a meal.
The women!  Love
I liked seeing all the old American cars from the 1950s and before.

I was disturbed by some of the poverty and dirt. Havana isn't a very clean city. The dirt didn't bother me that much though.

Cubana airlines rule!  Big thumbs up
I have to say, my IL-62 experience was fantastic!  Big thumbs up
Free beer and rum in coach!  Smokin cool
What US airline offers that?
I think the Airbus vs Boeing wars are stupid but I will go on to say that the IL-62 flight was one of the best I ever had. I'll talk more about that in the 'civil aviation' forums.

VIVA la Revolucion!  Big thumbs up  Big thumbs up  Big thumbs up

I sneaked through Cancun, Mexico.

BTW, I was in Cancun for two days and I hated every minute of it!  Pissed
I will never go to Cancun again unless I am on my way to Cuba again.
Canacun was just a bunch of loud and obnoxious American teen-agers! Everyone one there is trying to rip you off and most establishments are US ran businesses. I didn't feel like I was in a forgien country at all.

Hey CstarU:
I didn't bring anything back but photos and memories!  Big grin
U.S. Customs can be some real pricks at times so I didn't want to take any risk. I smoked planty when I was there. I didn't really see the big deal about cigars. I don't smoke cigars anyway but I did while I there just because it's the thing to do in Cuba.
I had plenty of rum and the was great!  Big thumbs up

>You liberal commie stooge...patronizing a ruthless and evil Marxist regime!

Well our predatory capitalist regime here in the US is just as evil.

Superfly, I was getting worried about you! Ever hear of a phone, young man?!?! You are grounded for the weekend! Oh hell, I'm a softie. Just don't let it happen again. Thought you were unconscience in a ditch somewhere! Sheesh.

By the way, Chautauqua Airlines offers free booze to coach; both as TWExpress and USAirways Express. Makes Saab340SF flights bearable.

Welcome back.

Hey Superfly,

That's awesome, guy! Lemme ask you, how much did you have to pay for your ticket from Cancun to Havana? How was Cuban customs upon entry/exit there? I knew Americans had to get there through another country like you did, but was it difficult or tricky in any way? Was there anything you had to watch out for or avoid doing while there (so as not to get in any trouble?) --I wanna go to Cuba too! Who did you go with? Did you get to go to Veradero(sp?) beach?

That sounds like that was quite an exciting trip!
Kool!

 Big thumbs up

Welcome back! I knew that you would have a safe trip on Cubana. This sounds like it was a wonderful experience. Are you going to post a trip report in that forum? I hope so. Not too many people have taken such a trip, and I'm glad you were brave enough to do it.

Anyway, I'm glad you are back. You were missed here.

ps. You look cool standing next to that jet. Smokin cool

Superfly.....

How where you able to live over there.

It is against federal law for US citizens to spend money in that country. Unless permission is granted, Usually only for diplomats, news crews or relief agencies.

Is it safe to say that you circumvented US law?
