I do.

At least, as stupid as it is, it gives me something to read while bored at work...

Cheers,

Has no one considered the invidious fact that 98% of the population of Canada lives within a 4 hour forced march of the US border?

Someone needs to watch those people....no one that polite can be up to any good!

Now, French Canada is less of a problem. They can't seem to decide if they want to invade in the opposite direction from the rest of Canadia.....

Hey, does anyone here speak Canadian so we can negotiate peace terms?

Not to bring down the party here, but I would just as soon keep our friends in the Princess Pat's Light Infantry on our side....they had our backs in Afghanistan.

Maybe we can invade Greenland together!

Since when does the "N.B.A." stand for "Canadians Can Play Too". We need to get Vancouver and Toronto annexed into America to preserve the "N".

We already annexed the Vancouver team Big grin

You will be comforted to know that at least one guy in North Dakota is on the job.

I worked for the US Forest Service in ND for a while. One of my jobs was to summarize and respond to public comments made about our new Forest Management Plan. This plan covered absolutely every aspect of forest management including an engineering section on road specifications; standardized specs for width, grade, composition, etc.

Anyway, this guy sends a three page letter with his grave concerns about how the road specs would aid Canadian military forces in an invasion. He said the roads were too wide and that this would enable armored vehicles to move too quickly in western ND.

He also made a comment on an abandoned airstrip that we were planning to remove and rehab. He was very supportive about that because he was concerned that it would be used by Canadian Special Forces.

I was sure it was all a big joke, but when I showed it to my boss he immediately recognized the name and assured me the guy was perfectly serious. Apparently this individual sits around on his ranch with a bunch of AKs and stuff waiting for the Canadian Army.

I'd defend America with an AK rather than an M-16. The AK is much more reliable than an M-16. And what's so disrespecting about using the best gun available when it comes to defending ones own country?

PS I mean this in a lighthearted manner, not as a personal attack, just so we're on the same page. Big grin

That's pretty funny. Having fired and qualified with both rifles, I'd much rather carry an M-16 or M-4, no contest. I’ll be curious to see what some of the other vets here have to say.

I would rather use whatever weapon was handy and for which I had adequate supplies of ammunition. OUr guys in Iraq performing MOUT operations have taken to carrying AK's for the additional punch afforded by the bigger bullets and the more reliable system in the dusty and harsh climate. The M-4's tend to overheat quickly compared to the AK and their gas tube is shorter than the M-16 design which means that there is less force available to keep the bolt carrier travelling back and forth. It also takes less debris in the tube to cause stoppages.

The AK simply works all the time short of having the barrel filled with mud or being out of ammo.

I'm a huge fan of the M-16/4 weapons, I even own a carbine....but truth be told the AK-47 system is the most reliable and powerful one out there.

We just can't switch over to the things, but I wish that Colt would offer the military the M-4 in 7.62x39 that they made for the civilian market 10 years ago. It would be appreciated.

I'll see your AK and AR and raise you a Garand.

A full charge round. You lie lower to the ground when shooting prone, which makes you a harder target. True you only get 8 shots but at least the clip loads in from the top, so you don't have to worry about packing the magazing well full of dirt.

That and if you get into a bayonet fight there is something nice about having that big american hickory stock to bash somebody's head in with.

However, I also have a SMLE with a P1907 Bayonet that probably would be better then that. That bayonet blade is 16 inches long.

The US Forest Service administers several National Grasslands as well as the more well known National Forests. I have also worked in Alaska, Colorado, and California in more traditional Forests. You would be surprised, as I was, how rugged the Badlands of western North Dakota are. It is definitely not all flat.

Give me a M-14. the stopping power of a 30-06 and full auto. Had those on the ship, plus .45's (why the army went to the 9mm I will never know). and for back up a ma deuce.

And dont say France never won a war, they have but it was civil.

Actually the M-14 is a .308.

Just a bit weaker then the 30-06.

Agree with you about the .45

The only reason it was replaced was for NATO compatablity.
