If I get insured on our car and I go, I don't mind picking people up from LGW if they fly there instead of LHR (low fares at LGW), and then go onto LHR. Going to LGW would only add another 15 minutes or so to the journey from my place to LHR (not including waiting times), LGW is pretty much on the way to LHR.
