The Word 'Airshow'

In the recent days I've been telling my friends about my trip to France (which is gonna start tomorrow) and why I'm going there.

Ryaneverest: "I'm leaving for France on 23."

other guy: "What for?"

Ryaneverest: "For the Paris Air Show."

other guy: "What's that?"

Ryaneverest: "That's a famous airshow."

other guy: "What's an airshow???"

Now I've told 25 guys that I'm going to the Paris Air Show, only 2 of which know what an airshow is. I'm really getting mad about this... so what's an airshow, even if you don't have that word in your vocabulary, you can guess it's a show in the air!!  Pissed

Have any of you guys been encountering this? (Especially those of you who're in non-English-speaking countries)

That's really weird.......I've never come across anyone who doesn't know what an airshow is. Then again, living near Toronto, we hear about them a lot.
