Auditorium Madrid Hotel 3 - 4km (Across the A2 motorway with great views of the airport from the upper floors).
Puerta Madrid 8 - 9kms. Great...super nice hotel although not exactly in the airport area, but it should have a shuttle service...must be less than 10 minutes away if the traffic is not heavy.
And some others I can't recall right now.
There's also this small hotel right next to SENASA and the Cargo Center office building, which seems to have very good views of the south ramp due to it's location although it only has 2 or 3 floors. I can't remember it's name but it's the closest hotel to the airport.
In about 1 year from now, the Hilton Madrid Airport hotel will be open.

I would not bother using an airport hotel at MAD as it's very cheap and very quick to go downtown (using the ultra-efficient metro). I have been to MAD over 5 times and always stay downtown. If you'd like some info. re. spotting at MAD, give me a shout.
