Just found the link:

http://www.heute.de/ZDFheute/inhalt/9/0,3672,2282665,00.html

Quick translation is that Italian Television has reported the right hand bronze door to St. Peters has closed, indicating the death of a pope.

As Racko said, the article mentions they closed the bronze doors to St. Peter's, traditionally a sign for the Pope's death. If it is what it seems to be, may he rest in peace.

The BBC also still say that his condsition has worsened. More to the point, BBC radio (I always have it on in the background) are yet to say anything.

It may be that the news sources are waiting for any official confirmation. The last thing they want to do is jump the gun on this.

It's possible he is in what doctors call the active phase of dying. A process where the major organs begin to shut down and blood pressure drops. It can last for hours or severa days.

Well, technically they didn't say "He's dead." but reported that the doors have been closed - somewhat confusing if you don't know exactly what that can mean.

Edit:

Quoting ZDF:
Das gilt in Rom als Hinweis auf einen Papsttod.

In Rome, this is considered an indication of the death of a Pope.

They're definitely watching what they're saying, same for SPIEGEL Online.
