Well, we have some collegiate hockey fans here, so lets discuss the Frozen Four...
First game just ended, and the Denver Pioneers just pounded the living heck out of arch-rival and Front Range neighbor Colorado College 6-2 in Columbus, Ohio...next game is Minnesota vs. North Dakota, which also brings up the fact that this year's Frozen Four is an all-WCHA field, first time ever all teams from the same conference...
Go DU!

I don't think the Sioux will have much of a problem disposing of the U of M Rodents. With the smaller rink, the Rodents will have a harder time getting to the front of the net because of the huge Sioux defense. I predict 5-3 Sioux.
Denver will be a huge task for the Sioux as I don't believe they have beaten them all season. But, we'll discuss that after the Sioux lay a beating on the Rodents.

I am excited and happy as hell that it's an all WCHA Final Four.... WOW!
But I'm pissed as hell that Wisconsin stunk it up down the stretch run, and then lost to Michigan. Of course, at least the friggin Wolverines got theirs in the end. Muhahahaa....
It's funny, because the overall records and scoring of CCHA and Hockey East teams reflected--at least on paper--a disparity to the WCHA. UW's problem was the lack of scoring and it showed late.

Sorry Greg, the NHL is bad enough, but College Hockey is even worse.
You're just bitter the Tar Heels don't have a hockey team and so you can't bring yourself to root for anyone else...

Quoting Usairwys757 (Reply 4): Jcs, the fact that you are the one telling me that is quite humorous. Yankee errrrrrr sometimes Yankee fan.
Did Doug Mirabelli allow you to stop spooning with him long enough to type that brilliant piece of drivel?
Wooooooo! UND into the finals. Quite a scene here at UND, it got up to 72 degrees today and of course all the fraternities and people with houses were drinking on their lawn. Once the game started, you couldn't find one person outside, no one. Hardly any cars were even on the streets.
I predicted 5-3 Sioux, ended up 4-2 Sioux. I was a little disappointed on how the Sioux played after the Rodents scored two goals against them (thanks to an absolute bullshit 4 minute double-minor). Whatever though, on to the finals, baby!
Go Big Sioux! Minnesota sucks!

Quoting Mir (Reply 8): What kind of university has "thru" in their school song? I thought that college was about finally learning how to spell.
Hey Dave, maybe you could go to Embry with their politcally correct mascot and their D-III sports $5 says it was an intern who typed the webpage.
Greg, did you know that when I am wearing my sunglasses your arm looks like it's amputated and the bag of Milano cookies is levitating? Oh well, too much celebratory Keystone. I honestly don't know what the result will be between the Sioux and the Pioneers, I think it will be incredibly close. Denver has beaten the Sioux 3W-0L thus far during the season and the playoffs, but you cannot deny that the Sioux have a lot of momentum going into Saturday's game. I don't think it will be a blowout either way, but it should be an amazingly close game. I can't bring myself to hate Denver, since it's really not a big regional rivalry.
For a Fighting Sioux student and fan, it's just disappointing that UND is not better known throughout the country. Part of me wishes that at least the Sioux would join a lame D1-A conference in football (We've been in the D-II playoffs for how many years?!). We're a school of 13,000 students and arguably the best school academically in the North Central region of the country. It's just frustrating knowing that people turning into ESPN2 and seeing UND are asking "WTF?!"

I'm rooting for UND. I hope they whip DU's ass. I met some DU students one time, man were they assholes. I predict it to be a close game though, somewhere in the neighborhood of 4-2 or 4-3 UND. Go Sioux!

Embry would probably be worse. I hate to say it, but the aviation department is probably the worst as far as spelling goes here. One time I walk into the flight operations lobby and the status board says "no flight restricitons." I tried to point it out to them but they didn't get it.
Quoting JCS17 (Reply 10): $5 says it was an intern who typed the webpage.
Actually, that is an actual part of the school song, incorrect spelling and all. I wouldn't have such a problem with it if it was just a mistake.
In any case, I really couldn't care less about college sports, apart from the intramural stuff that I play in. I've been to a hockey game once, and really have no desire to go again. The fans just didn't really seem into it, which is surprising considering how they like to say that they are so devoted to their team.

Not going to happen, since according to the UND website, your lovely football stadium, the Alerus Center, only seats 13,500...to join I-A football you have to have an average attendance of at least 15,000 per game, and that is not happening in a 13,500 seat stadium...a jump to I-AA football wouldn't be out of the question, they dont have any attendance requirements AFAIK...

The message you were about to post is too short and probably not of any higher value to the topic at hand. You should think long and hard before posting a message in this forum and make it detailed and a valuable addition to the topic discussed.
Avoid posting "Me Too" messages. These are messages that are posted by people who agree to a point being discussed and post a one liner, "me too!", "Good post Jim!", "I disagree" or similar message. This takes up time as readers must sort through these messages which have no real value to the group at large. Any message containing nothing more than a line or two of text is probably not worth posting.
If you have an opinion on a topic, you should in detail express why you have the opinion and what made you come to that conclusion.
Your post should be relevant to the topic discussed.

Supposedly UND is looking at joining the Big Sky Conference in DI-AA. So, then they'd play DI-AA football, and DI-A athletics. I've heard that, but I don't know if there is any truth to it.

Boy... this is a tough one. I would absolutely LOVE to see UND put DU in their place tomorrow! But barring a miracle... I think DU will most likely pull it out. It'll be close though... UND has been playing with quite a bit of intensity lately and DU should be nervous.
I'm just happy to see an all WCHA frozen four! Makes UAA's wins this year over Minnesota and UND look really. good.
