I've been thinking idly about a trip to South America later this year, and I'd like very much to visit the Pantanal wetlands area of Brazil. I was wondering, has anyone on here been ? If so, do they have recommendations on where to stay, how to get there, what to try and see ? I'd like to combine the trip with a visit and Paraguay (to see the missions), and possibly Bolivia. I believe one place from which to access the Pantanal could be Puerto Suarez in Bolivia - would that be sensible/possible ? Could one get into Brazil from there and see the area from both sides, as it were ?
Any suggestions, information would be most welcome.

I think one of the best ways to get to the Pantanal is if you fly to Brazil first. Considering that you are in France you have very good flight options from CDG to Brazil with TAM, AF and RG, with really good fares, and plenty of flight options.
Information about Pantanal/Wetlands, visit these sites:

Thanks Hardiwv - links much appreciated.
Re getting to Brazil, I was thinking either via FRA LH/RG or via LIS on NI/TP - those are the best fares I've found so far (still bloody expensive !). Anyone know how much BY are asking for a ticket LGW-NAT ?
