Goldeneye has my vote. Tina Turner's contribution makes James Bond as charming excrement

I just popped in my Best of James Bond CD to refresh my memory.

The worst by far is "Licence To Kill" by Gladys Knight.

There are too many really good ones to figure out my favourite, but here are some I really like...(no particular order)

Goldfinger...Shirley Bassey
Live & Let Die...Paul McCartney
The Living Daylights...A-Ha
All Time High...Rita Coolidge
We Have All The Time In THe World...Louis Armstrong
Moonraker...Shirley Bassey
A View To A Kill...Duran Duran

Cheers,
Patrick

Die Another Day was crap. How on God's Earth that was chosen as a Bond theme is beyond me. Even the composer who wrote the rest of the soundtrack hated it and refused to include any samples of it in the film.

I actually thought Carly Simon's "Nobody Does It Better" was great! But the best two for me are also two of the most recent - "Tomorrow Never Dies" by Sheryl Crow and "The World Is Not Enough" by Garbage (although I know a lot of people will probably disagree with that.)

I agree with Solnabo, "Die Another Day" is the worst in my opinion, "A View To A Kill" and "The Living Daylights" are my favorites.

The theme from "Moonraker", by Shirley Bassey. How could she go from the best, "Goldfinger" to this?!!??!?!

And most any AFTER "Living Daylights" really b-l-o-w.

Some of the "forgotten" Bond music:

"We Have All The Time in The World" Louis Armstrong...OHMSS
"Mister Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" Dione Warwick.................Thunderball

AND, I found an interesting website about "Bond" music...

The worst...well, some were not quite so good, Die another day certainly the crappiest of all, View to a kill a close second place (though it fits the movie...the worst Bond movie ever and clearly the definitive Moore-career-killer!!!!)

One of the best that rarely gety mentioned is one of the end credit's songs: k.d. Lang "Tomorrow never dies"...what a hymn...on a level with Shirley Bassey's alltime classics.

I loved "Die Another Day"! I thought it was a great song.

My favourite though is "Nobody Does it Better" from my favourite Bond film - The Spy Who Loved Me, starring my favourite bond - Roger Moore.

Best: All Time High, from 1983's "Octopussy" by Rita Coolidge

Aviation fans! This song from Octopussy was also the theme song from the 1983 Experimental Aircraft Association annual convention in 1983, held in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. My Dad flew a Cessna Skylane 182 from San Carlos, CA (south of SFO) to Oshkosh that year in order to be there.

2nd: A View to a Kill from 1985...same title, by Duran Duran
3rd: For Your Eyes Only from 1981...same title, by Sheena Easton
4th: Nobody Does it Better from 1977..."The Spy Who Loved Me" by Carly Simon

Moonraker is the worst, followed by the modern ones since 1989.

The best is Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger.

Even better on the Shirely Bassey remix album (Diamonds are Forever), where propellerhead funk it up even more !

By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

I agree, the "Die Another Day" song was dreadful - truly appalling. Mind you that whole opening sequence was a bit rubbish.

My fave Bond songs are...

"All the time in the world"
"You only live twice"
"Diamonds are Forever"

I'm surprised that no one has mention the all-time stinker by the only band that lives up to it's name - step forward Garbage and the "World is Not Enough"

My favourites are Tina Turner's "Goldeneye" written by the U2 boys and Louis Armstrong's "All the time in the world".

I wish I remember the moonraker theme or the others, but from what i remember, here are the best:

1- for your eyes only
2- a view to a kill
3- the living daylights (crappy movie though)

can't beat the 80's, and the excitement of watching a brand new bond movie such as a view to a kill, moonraker, etc.

ok, it was mentioned, but you actually liked it. I still say it is garbage, with Sheryl Crow's offering a close second. Maybe it's an age thing!  old

That surprises me, since you mentioned the age thing. I guess you like the ol' classic stuff better (so do I), but that's what surprises me. As far as the newer songs go, I find that Garbage got really close to that classic 007 sound.

I'm not trying to disagree with you or anything, so dont' take this the wrong way. You're entitled to your opinion and I respect that  Smile

25 Post contains images Willo : I personally think that some of the newer songs sound like pop songs tacked on to the film for the sake of selling a soundtrack album. To me they don'
26 PHLBOS : I will have to agree with you on that one; then again, I'm biased because I never really was a Madonna fan. The best ones IMHO were the title songs f
27 TriStarEnvy : So THAT'S what the music was.... I sat there and wondered where I'd heard it, before!
28 N1120A : Die Another Day and Goldeneye were definately the worst. Live and Let Die is one of the best, with Jane Seymour's presence in the film of its name mak
29 Flybyguy : Ewww... I will never look at ice cream the same way again.
30 HEGAN : My favorites would be: John Barry´s 007 Them, Goldfinger, Life and let die, the living daylights, goldeneye, the world is not engough and Die another
31 Delta717 : I have to totally 100% agree with you on that being the best. The worst was definitely Madonna's "Die Another Day."
32 RedDragon : Despite my loathing for Die Another Day as a film, I have to say that in my opinion the title song gets pipped to the post by Paul McCartney's risible
