This whole "teach both sides" argument is bullshit - do they teach both sides of astronomy, the real side and the religious "the Sun and stars revolve around the Earth" side ? No they don't. There is no "other" side here - creationism and "intelligent design" is an absolute crock with NO VALID SCIENTIFIC BASIS WHATSOEVER !! It has about as much place in a science class as the theory that the Earth is flat.

Plus for the religiously inclined, teaching the FACT of evolution in no way means that if you believe in God, you can't believe that God as you understand it started it all. Of course that belongs in a metaphysics bull session - not in a classroom. Even the Catholic church recognizes the fact of evolution. I don't think that makes the Pope a secular humanist.
