I was wondering what happened to the English football player Paul Gascoigne.
He was famous for drinking one or two beers more and he was featured in the press because he destroyed the cabin of a Cathay Pacific plane inflight from HKG to LHR while being drunken.
The last thing I read a few months ago about him was that he was playing for a club in the 2nd Chinese league. Apparently he borrowed some money from the club manager because he wanted to get rid of his alcohol addiction in a special clinic but he never appeared again at this Chinese football club.
Does anyone know what happened to him? Is he still playing football somewhere and is he still drinking beer and booze like there is no tomorrow?

I heard from a website that recently, he was apparantly tricked into believing he had to coach the Fijian footy side, then was asked to spy on Fiji and what secrets the country had! Apparantly, was quite upset when told it was a prank. Footage to show in the UK soon on ITV!
Hey, you want to go out for pizza and some sex? What, you don't like pizza?

It seems quite likely that Gascoigne suffered from undiagnosed mental difficulties throughout his career. The mood swings, the obsessive behaviour, the Tourette's style outbursts, the nervous tics etc etc.
A shame. A real shame. He has been receiving mental treatment in more recent years, but perhaps we might have been rather more sympathetic towards him had we known at the time. Given the (very different) difficulties that Sebastian Deisler has gone through, it's hardly a completely unknown thing to occur.
The biggest fear with Gascoigne has always been, what does he do when he finishes playing? Who knows. But I think he deserves support, not criticism now.

I'm surprised that the MLS hasn't tried to sign him. There were rumors a few years back that he was trying to get signed by the league. Honestly, I don't think he could even hack it on a USL First Division side (Equivalent to the 1st Div of the CCFL in England).
