On Monday, 2 May, 2200 local, Monty arrive in ANC on his latest travels. From Perth, to SFO to ANC to SEA . . . .

Any messages I can print and deliver. Not to worry, my printer is "unbiased".

I'm going to meet him at the airport and ensure his safe arrival at his hotel.

Regards . . .

Hey cool, sounds like a halfway decent reason for an Anchorage meet!

Being unemployed I am not doing much next week if he needs a ride.

Moose tooth for lunch on the 3rd?

Qantas isn't reading e-mail at the moment, but I'll mention this to him. He's picking up a rental car on the morning of the 3rd.

Regardless, 'bout time we had lunch anyway - hell we only 10 miles apart! Contact me on my A-Net contact and we can set something up with Monty.

Sounds like he is set then. Too bad he didn't come up on the weekend of the 14/15th. That is when the Aviation Trade show is at the FED-EX hanger. Which is by definition a good time to be an aviation enthusiast in Anchorage, Particularly this year since the Air Force canceled Arctic Thunder.  Sad

Another idea is to feed him after he gets off the bird. I don't know how long the resturant is open.

By the way, if you are an Anchorage area spotter please chime in.....we could get a good meet going.

I could run him by Sea Galley, grab something before going to the hotel.

What time at Moose's Tooth on the 3rd?

It is either hang out with you guys or clean the house........not really a choice is it?

Lunch/Dinner maybe? I don't know what his travel plans are on the 3rd.

Exactly.

He arrives on UA 967 at 23:40 on the 2nd. . . . if they are on time.

You can of course come out to ANC to enhance his welcome to "The Great Land". Hell, there's a bar open somewhere at midnight (and at 1 and 2 and 3) in Anchorage  bigthumbsup .

I might wander out that way, I will either be in a good mood or a bad mood depending how my tests that morning go. Maybe I can work a visit to Home Depot in on the outbound leg Big grin

I would suspect that he might be ready to go about then, Australia is what? 6 hours ahead of us?

About 14 hours if I recall . . . . Guam is 15 hours ahead of east coast, so minus that 4 hours, then 11 + 3= 14.

All I remember is that it would be late at night in DC and my crew from Guam would call at noon the next day from Agana. . . . and they wanted me to THINK and give a cognizant answer!

Regardless, he'll have been on Pacific Time for a week before arriving here.

I think the Australian east coast is 18 hours ahead of ANC. It's currently 16:00 Sunday afternoon in Sydney.

I just dropped you an e-mail with some spots he should visit if he has the time, but you probably have allready mentioned most of them to him.

I wonder where I can find out how Hatcher Pass mine is. The pass itself won't be open, which makes a great loop and then you go to the Transportation and Iditarod Museum in Wasilla.

I don't know if he would want to try to run the pass in an underpowered wonder rental, I definatly would prefer to take it with my 4WD, assuming the guys at NYE Ford can get it to start engaging again tommorrow.

I sent him a Anchorage Visitor's guide several months ago - ain't it a bitch, the guide was free, the postage was . . . more than that. They ought to post that on the web.  biggrin

I can run him up the pass on Wed morning in my truck if yours is TU. I have to be at the airport for a flight at 3pm. So, Wednesday will be tight. Otherwise, as I told him earlier, I'll be his host.

I've met Cal, tall guy.

Hangered his lear a couple times where I used to work.

I have a brother who works at the Toyota Dealership. My sister worked there but their CSA department is headed by a real @#*#*. Apparently they have gone through over two dozen people in a year because of the boss. My sister was able to put up with her for about three months.

His kid is running that show now I hear?

His commercials suck, read the fine print . . .

2004 F250 - a 4X4 - only $16995 . . . (then, the fine print, with $9395 down and OAC, plus taxes, fees, license, your first born).

I get my truck serviced at Nye . . . good people there.

Just got back from Nye, turns out my front shift fork was goobered. Got it replaced under warrenty, so now I have 4WD back. Drove down to Sunshine Creek to make sure.

As far as Ford, Isn't this the last state he is allowed to do buisness in? I remember hearing that he got kicked out of Washington State.

I think you are right Calvin is running the place, but pop still flies up occasional in a very nice Lear 35. Tall fellow.

I have an old friend of the family that works in the finance dept, so I think my sister did ok with the Focus she bought there last month. Plus she had a very nasty boss when she worked for Nye Toyota, so she isn't big on buying from Nye.

I did however forget to ask if anybody knew the conditions up Hatcher.

I thought Worthington was from Colorado or Texas or some such thing - Texas I think. I seem to recall seeing a Cal Worthington Ford in Austin a few years back.

I don't like his style, simple as that. Calvin (Jr.) might do better. A lot of GIs won't deal with him . . . .

My ex bought an Escort from him in 1993, and it was a good car. Also, her 1988 Escort hatchback got a complete engine replacement under warranty there in 1992, had only 300 miles left on the warranty and lost the engine completely coming up Eagle River Hill inbound to Anchorage. Not a bad deal for $50.

Nye is my dealership of choice for Fords . . . .

I don'[t know, I know his home is in Nevada now.

Nye has his points, While I was waiting for my truck to get fixed, I noticed that a lot of his vehicles had big special price tags in the windows......but get closer and you can see that the offer only applies to active duty military.

Not that I have anything against special deals for military members, generally they are lower loan risks, since the military takes bounced checks by it's members very seriously. But if you watch his tv adds he also quotes the same prices and then on the small print, you see that the price is only for military members.
