Hey guys and gals, Next month I will be trading in my car for a new vehicle. I have decided to go with the pick up Nissan Frontier. I am curious to know if there are any owners out there and what they think of the truck. Thanks.

Honestly, you are much better off going with the Toyota Tacoma. The Frontier has major issues with lack of power, like 240 bhp engines feeling like they have 200, etc. Toyota makes the most reliable trucks out there, with lots of power and very low fuel burn. Also, the resale is much better (my dad is a car dealer, I know all about it). Add to that, my friend just bought a new Tacoma and the amazing thing about the the truck is the interior, fit, finish, etc.

I had a roommate who had a Frontier. OK truck. I drove it many times and have no specific complaints other than lack of power. Just seemed like a generic foreign light duty truck to me.

I’d go with a Tacoma based on Toyota’s bullet proof reliability. Good looks, too.

Sorry, no info on the Frontier, but I'll be the 3rd to recommend the Tacoma. I've had mine for 8 years now and love it! In the entire time I've had it, it has never been to the shop for anything other than scheduled maintenance. The '05 is a great road truck and even more refined than my '97 was when new. If you want more info and owner's opinions on the Tacoma, check out http://www.tacomaterritory.com

I never really liked any of the Japanese pickups, sorry  Sad Get a smaller Ford, Dodge, or Chevy.
I prefer the other frontier, F9.

If you want a much less reliable, less powerful, less comfortable truck with higher fuel consumption, then by all means, but a Ranger, Dakota or Colorado.

I second the Tacoma... the 4-Runner is my favorite Toyota truck but the Tundra is top-not too.

The Ranger is possibly the worst small truck on the road.

Never heard of a Dodge not falling apart

Why buy a truck with a 5=cylender engine when other competitors have more sophisticated, modern, V6 engines?

Toyota builds in the USA... more than GM can say...

My dad has a 2004 4Runner Limited. He loves it, and it is one of the best truck based SUV's on the road.

I predict Toyota to be the number 1 seller in 10 years.

I love my Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4x4! I've never had any problems with it. Nothing. Zilch. I bought it new in April 2001.

Doesn't matter where it builds, I was only saying I didn't like the Japanese trucks as much as the american ones.

Get an F-150 then. You can get one for about as much as one of the Frontiers.

More horsepower and towing capacity than the tacoma for example.

Different kind of truck, and you got very lucky because the Explorer's reliability has been at best questionable since the introduction of the line in 1989

Four door compact pickup. How's it different?

The Sport Trac is basically an SUV with a tiny bed tacked on. The Tacoma and Frontier are actual pickups, with full-sized beds. They are smaller, lighter and use less gas. Also, no mention was made about getting a 4-door in the first place.

The Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep lines have some of the worst reliability of any line in production in North America.

As of 2004, 33 per 100 Dodge Dakotas had a quality flaw requring dealership maintenance before the vehicle was sold, or within the first 1,000 miles

2005 Dodge median reliability -15% compared to average 2005 vehicle

On list of "Used Cars to Avoid" - Dodge Dakota, Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler TC, Jeep Grand Cherokee

Worse- Dodge models across the board have terrible depreciation. Want to pay $25,000 just to see your truck worth $10,000 in 3 years?

Toyota models consistantly have the best reliability, fewest defects per vehicle, and best depreciation. Those are your three biggest head-ached when it comes to maintaining the value of your purchase.
