I was wondering what anyone thought about this situation. Here's what I think.......

How long is the D.C. Police Department going to keep protecting Condit and name him a suspect? He has admitted having an affair with her. If this was anyone else that would be enough to be named a suspect. Now I certainly hope I am wrong and she is okay and has just runaway or something but who wants to bet that in the end Condit does having something to do with her disapperance.

This has been on the news for months, the media certainly expects there is more then he is admitting.

Although it's a strange situation, I don't think the police can name anyone a suspect because the police don't really know what happened to her yet. There was no sign of a struggle in her apartment, no blood, no screams heard, no witnesses that can say they saw her being taken against her will, no body has been found, etc.

Someone (I forget who) on CNN made the point that the only thing missing from her apartment was her keys. She had left her purse and cellphone behind. The person on CNN asked where would you be going if you only took your keys? To visit someone who lives in the same building. The person speculated that if she had been going outside the building, perhaps to run a quick errand, she most likely would have taken at least her purse and probably her cell phone too.

The police need to find a body or some other evidence of foul play so they can change her status from missing person to homicide victim before they can start naming "suspects".

I really haven't been following this story very closely, so I don't know.

But as usual, the media is just burning to lay the blame on her disappearance on SOMEBODY. It appears that Mr. Condit has become the scapegoat.

I think they need to lay off of him until 1) Ms. Levy is found (dead or otherwise) and 2) until more facts are known.

I don't want to media to be jumpiing on the "Condit Did It" bandwagon. I just want the D.C. police to consider him a suspect. He is suspect. He, a well-known Washington politician, slept with her. He had an affair. How many times have we seen this. I am not saying he killed her. He just isn't telling everything he knows. I still hope she is okay.

Horray!

For once, Matt D has said the right thing. The media is too harsh on Gary Condit.

From what we know now, he may have had an affair with her, but that in no way means that he kidnapped or murdered her. And, I know the parents are going through a terrible time, but I do not think that they should be outright accusing Mr. Condit of everything.

The latest news is that the family wants Condit to take a lie detector test. I think that's going too far considering we have no reason to believe he's even a suspect.

The media is too harsh on Gary Condit. I think his wife did it.
My theory of the (alleged) crime:
Condit's wife found out about the affair and murdered/hired someone to murder Chandra Levy. She couldn't kill her husband because he's a public figure, and she probably wouldn't get away with killing a congressman. She probably didn't think anyone would notice the disappearance of some intern...
Anyone agrees? Any other explanations of the disappearance?

Well, there's no doubt, if there's even a hint of a sexual relationship between someone like Condit and this young intern, the media in this country will go for the jugular without even looking for the truth.

I honestly think Condit could possibly be the victim of a setup or a blackmail attempt. It could be that someone with an ax to grind found out about this affair, and used this girl to get back at the Congressman. I'd be stunned if a Congressman were stupid enough to kidnap and/or murder this young girl. Who knows? Maybe the wife did it after finding out about them!!

Hey LY744,

Thats a new twist...I hadnt thought about that...Im sorry this is no random act of whatever in the disappearance of this girl...she was done away with no doubt about it...no matter directly by or indirerctly by Condit or someone else close to him.

People do irrational things when their livelyhoods are threatend...dont underestimate his ability to have anything like that done. He is just as fallable as anyone and has the potential to be a monster too!!

I personally am not happy with this being on the news every time I blink but I think like SouthRebels said, they should just go ahead and name him as "A" suspect. The police always question the spouse/boyfriend when something like this happens. (look for instance at OJ: They were at his house as soon as they found the bodies and knew who she was) it is just common practice. If a regular joe started off lying about almost all relevant details from the begining, they would certainly name them a suspect and search them, no bodies are required especially since it hasn't been ruled a homicide.

BTW i think he did it or knows who did. This ofcourse means I unfortunately think she is dead. Too bad!!

The D.C. Police think something is up or they wouldn't have taken stuff from his apartment. He knows something and I also think she is dead. If she had runaway someone would have seen her. If she killed herself the body would have been found already.

I really think that the media has gone way too far with this. They have their story, and they are happy. I trust the police on this one. We may not like them, but they aren't stupid. If they say he's not a suspect... then he's not a suspect. I think he's innocent.

Just my $0.02 worth.
