Can We Get Along For One Day?!

For god's sake, I'm sorry I'm a little irritable, but why not ask something positive. All these negative things! I know the world isn't a happy place, but can't we talk about something that won't turn a.nutters against each other. Although it seems some of you get kicks out of tormenting each other. For one day, I'd like to see no A vs B. No Bush vs Anti-Bush. How about the positive stuff? 'How Fast Do You Drive?', 'Stupid Saturday Showers Thread: Post Your Desktop!', 'How Long Did You Wait Before Joining ANet?' What happened to going online to get a laugh? Or too share something good that happened to you to today? People! While we argue over petty differences, people starve, the environment wilts away, when we could should just be caring for our neighbors. And playing the blame game doesn't help, so please don't start pinning it on members, or other people. Yet you guys believe it that when you post your complaints online, the problem will be solved. Its not that easy, and we have to look up while we have something to be happy about! Hell, soon, our planet's gonna get a lot dirtier before it gets cleaner.

What happened to going online to get a laugh?

Should we go back to CaptOveur, Gkirk, and TheCoz exchanging photos of eachother?

Absolutely NOT. All it takes are a few users to cause the trouble and as long as they are around, there will NEVER be peace at airliners. The first that comes to mind is a certain person from Alaska..will remain nameless. I have tried this whole, let's get along but it hasn't worked so I am over it. I have posted several times threads about helping me out with something and VERY few have responded so that shows a lot of dislike around this place. I also think people start certain threads because they know they will be contraversial. So, basically no peace on airliners.net

A lot of people (myself included) enjoy the conflict. It's what keeps things interesting.

There's a reason why this forum is more popular than the far more peaceful tech, photography or trip report forums.

Too right. Diversity of opinions is just about the best thing a forum can have.

LOL TedAce, that was fun, wasn't it! Big grin

Kiwi, I think that Non-Av is where people go to vent in general. The other message boards tend to be more strict in regard to what is said. It's necessary to have such a message board to keep the Civil Av message boards etc.. more structured.

One thing I like about Non-Av and all of you aviation nuts is that you realize it's all in fun. There's so many people running around in real life with no passion for anything. I think you're lucky you have found people who share the same passion in aviation as you do.

If someone decided to take things seriously on here and get all bent out of shape, so be it. I personally don't care if someone has a problem with what I say. This this the Internet; not real life. It's sort of like a mini-vacation we all look forward to during our spare time (or during work/school for many of us).

The most important thing to do is have fun. I laughed my a** off during that infamous thread, and if someone got all bent out of shape over it, I'd laugh even more.

Non-Av is where you should leave your ego at the door and come with an open mind. I think we can all learn a lot from each other.

Just remember to take nothing personally.  Smile

Ha Ha Ha, no gut, no glory sonnyboy. . . name names, what you got to lose, it's an internet site. What you think someone's gonna fly 5000 miles just to kick you in the ass?

I pick on you because - well, here there are a LOT of reasons - but mostly because I find it fun to annoy you. See how far I can spool you up.

You tried this "whole get along thing" . . .  rotfl   rotfl  . . .

redflag  this is the bullshit flag, it is flown when a previous sentence, thread, post, etc. is pure bullshit. In this case - it's fits you nearly every single time.

In my ever so humble an confused opinion one of the best things about this site is the variety of opinions floating around.

I have people on my Respected User list (RU) that are politically the oposite from myself, but I respect them for what they say and how they present themselves.

When it comes to moderating though I have to toss the RU and personal feeling out the window (not quite to the swamp) and apply the rules to the situation.

As to wishing that everyone gets along all I can say is that I wish everyone could debate the issues and stay somewhat inside the rules.

Ditto.

What's the fun if we can't beat on each other sometimes? I've been on the receiving end a couple of times, but I've dished, too, and it's all in good fun (and, usually, taste). I love finding what other people think, especially when it's totally different from what I think. And likewise, I enjoy finding folks who are likeminded, and sometimes we all vent together (usually about some genius or two who enjoy flamebaiting here in the forums). Sometimes, the humor is worth the dirt and hilarious (and probably banned) pictures that can follow suit. And sometimes a bunch of guys like to show up and swing their monkeys around the room just to see whose is the biggest. Big grin

Sit back and relax. Watching guys (especially those with huge RR's) rip into each other on civil av, and especially here in non av, can be quite entertaining.
