Hey all.. I just recieved a new radio for my car, a JVC KD-AR7000 unit. It was barely ever used, but the CD that normally comes with it was not there. (no biggie, excpet for this one thing.)

It has the ability to have pictures on the faceplate, however it requires certain software to convert JPG files to the correct format.

The "tech" guy on the JVC line said to try the JVC Japan site, but I have had no luck..

The file extension for a still picture is JCL... For an animated one it;s JCA..

Here is a link for product info..

http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?model...7174&pathId=52&page=1&archive=true

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Chris

(Edited to put in extension info)

I'm sorry, but I find it STUNNING that the software wasn't included. That's like 'yeah our stereo does A,B,C,D,E,F,G but you can only do C&D if you make a LOT of effort, bribe a few people, and get rid of all evidence that anyone ever picked on GKirk!!

Have you tried going to other electronic stores? Maybe they can help, they might even have an extra CD lying around.

According to : http://www.cartoys.com/cartoys/showdetl.cfm/Product_ID/72340/
My statment is fair.

Key Features
* Detachable Control Panel with Carrying Case
* Motorized Faceplate with Variable Angle Control
* 256-Color OEL Display
* PiCT Downloads: Click here to experience the power of PiCT
* Application Disk (Image Converter Color)

I would call back to JVC and demmand another copy of the application disk.

This might do in the meantime:

Try going to a store that sells the unit or even similar JVC's. I'm sure they use the same software. If they have a unit on display then they must have a CD there. Maybe you can borrow it and copy it, or they'll probably let you have it because they should have more than one. Also try e-mailing the JVCJapan people.

Good luck
