Your thoughts about this? Do you think they will postpone the execution? Or should I say: Will two lives end with the death of Mr Johnson?
Personally, I think that they should postpone his execution until the surgery can be performed, but this world is full of people with principles, so I wouldn't be amazed if they decide not to postpone anything...

ANCFlyer, what a witty, sharp and well-reflected reply, as usual, brilliant and to the point...why don't you go out and act according to your signature...in your case it is definitely true!!
Twistedwhisper: It doesn't take that long to find out if he's actually the right guy to donate, just because it's his sister doesn't mean it would work.
I keep asking myself: Why not let people about to be executed donate all they want to donate...they could virtually take all organs out of him that are of use to others...and after that, he won't even have to wake up!

..Because lethal injection (which is what they would most likely use) makes the organs unsuitable for donation. And the electric chair screws them up as well..

It should have no effect on stuff like the corneas or skin. Both useful parts to donate if they can be harvested quickly.

Too many minefields. It has long been a part of the laws concerning capital punishment in most nations which use it or formerly did, that the prisoner must know he is being executed and the reason for it. Having this tied to organ harvesting would open up too many legal issues.
There would, for instance, be the argument that the prisoner did not die of the intended execution method, but instead died of organ harvesting. Imagine that coming to a court.

I think this is something nice this "person" is doing before he dies. He probably just realized he is going straight to hell and well is trying to win some last minute points with the big guy! In all seriousness, I think they should let him do this. I mean, people are always in need of organs so why not let this guy who is about to die donate his and save someone's life? Will they allow it? I highly doubt it. Although I don't see why, I mean...they get to choose their last meal so I don't see why they wouldn't let him do this. I will say I think they should keep this on the down low because how would you feel if the organ you are getting is coming from a CRIMINAL!?!?!?! j/k

As mentioned before unless he his hanged, I don't think a doctor would be willing to risk poisioning a patient through toxins from the lethal injection.
And was mentioned before the electric chair would probably be just as destructive on the organs.

I dont' know, I don't think it should be risked.
There is a world of difference between "will not" and "should"
Quoting NoUFO (Reply 6): Some years ago, China was accused of increasing the number of executions for the mere reason to respond to the world wide demand for organs.
There are still allegations that China is still doing exactly that. Havesting organs from prisoners for sale on the world transplant market.
It may very well be a legit claim, and his sister may need the organ, and if the prison system is not permitting him to be tested for compatibility, then I woudl have an issue. But as somebody else mentioned here, it is pretty coincidentaly that he is waiting until a week before he pays for his crimes to make this claim.
