not very good news for the many coffee shop owners who live off tourists !!! And to Amsterdam itself since the many so called"drug tourists" also visit the city as weel as coffee shops

As well as this, I have a question to ask
since when is cannabis depenalised in Holland ?

Is it just me or is the logic seriously flawed here?

This is the opposite of the legalize pot arguments in the US. Why would you get rid of the legal drugs to prevent the import/export of illegal ones?

Wouldn't it work the other way around?

Methinks a whole new industry will start.

With this news, millions of German students burst into tears. Maybe Germany should ban Dutch trailers as a counterstrike  box .

In related news, tourist visits to the Netherlands from foreigners in the 18-22 college student demographic are forecasted to take a big hit downward...

Yes I can only echo BR067's post- Maastricht isn't exactly the place you would be going anyway if you are looking for a "good time" at the coffee shops....

Come and visit!

Now it should be "IFLYDCA"

Well, as a local I from nearby Maastricht I can agree with above.

I support this act, why?? Very simple. Many countries are against our drug policy. Especially our neighbours Germany and Belgium. And many people are able to benefit from our policy by simply crossing the border and stock-up their drug supply. I don't us to face losing this unique policy due to international conflicts.

We are not talking about tourists in Amsterdam who like to try a joint, but normal consumers. To preserve the soft-drug climate in the Netherlands I think it's a good idea to legalize soft drugs to Dutch people only in border area's. This way cities like Heerlen, Maastricht, Venlo aren't invaded by drug-tourism.

So you could buy it off someone, just as long as you don't buy it in the coffee shop?

I wanna know if there's still a way to get it.
