To our friends in Canada, HAPPY VICTORIA DAY!
…and everyone would gather
on the 24th of May
Sitting in the sand to watch the fireworks display
Dancing fires on the beach, singing songs together
Though it’s just a memory some memories last forever

Le Jour heureux de Victoria !
Le Canada est la seule nation civilisée dans Amérique du nord. Trop mauvais nous un souffrir du développement arrêté par notre gouvernement actuel ici aux Etats-Unis.

Quoting Superfly (Reply 2): I'll pick up a 12 pack of Molson Canadian after work to honour the great nation of Canada.
Superfly,
Thanks for the well-wishes.
The tradition is a "two-four" of beer, not a 12-pack. As Victoria Day is technically on the 24th of May, we call the weekend, "May 'two-four'".
You're just going to have to drink another twelve buddy.

I may be wrong, I was just listening to some Quebecois and I swear they refereed to it as Patriot Day. The Queen's not that popular herewould you believe!?

Thanks Superfly!
I went for a nice bike ride through the rolling prairies of Saskatchewan today. Rainy and then sunny, still and then windy, typical prairie day - but loving it!

Quoting ScarletHarlot (Reply 1): May 2-4, baby! All good Canadians are at the cottage (or "at camp", if you're in Northwestern Ontario) this weekend, drinking a 2-4 of beer.

Superfly, I know you love us Canadians!!! And yes, this is the May 24 weekend....only this weekend they had the 28's on sale for the same price as a 24 eh?... So if you did buy a 12 pack and another 12 pack as Canuckpaxguy mentioned....then you'll have to get 4 more...LMAO I know I'd love to have celebrated this long weekend with you and the rest of the great Canucks, Awspicious, Canadian>boy, Radarbeam, Biggles, Nuno, Skysurfer and Canuckpaxguy .....now that would be a celebration for sure!!!

Quoting ACDC8: Hey, Super...the beer's on me and I hope you like back bacon sandwiches!
er... I think we all know he does
Well, it's all winding down now... Just a few rogue fireworks explosions here n there. When I got home I had to elevate the general alert to orange (garden hose at the ready) because you never know when some rocket scientist might send a stray firework in the wrong direction only for it to land on someone's roof. I suppose it's a good thing it mostly rains on May 2-4 long week-end.
Thanks for the well wishes, 'Fly & others
As for hooking-up - It would indeed be quite the party with all those members mentioned... Including our very own (infamous) YYZ717, Gmonney, AirbusFanYYZ.... and yes, also EmiratesA345. And don't be knocking our Belle province (as I like to call it)... They do know how to party. Some of the best celebrations are in Quebec. The Montreal Grand Prix is a damn good time and the Montreal Jazz festival is one of the best in the world. I hope to check out the Mtl jazz-fest this year... along with their cari-fest (which is lame compared to TO's caribana, by the way).
Anyway.... Cheers!

Thanks for the good wishes, Superfly. We semi-officially opened up our cottage just north of Muskoka (Ontario) this long weekend, and we had a blast with our neighbours up there. Good friends, barbeques galore, fireworks, wine and champagne, and but of course, good ole Molson Canadian beer! Although I am partial to Stella Artois, I thought I'd be a good Canuck and stick with the home brew. The weather was cool/cold, but that didn't stop us, as we donned our Canuck caps had a good ole bonfire going full blast, and sang "This Land Is Your Land, this land is my land, from Bona Vista, to the Vancouver Islands!". LOL.
The funny thing about you, an SFOer posting this is that we are know very seriously considering moving to your neck of the woods in the next year. We're looking at homes/properties in the Sausalito-Marin County area later this summer, and I have to say that area and SFO excites us very much.
Anyhoo, thanks for the Victoria 2-4 greeting.
Ciao from Canuckland
