Miss Universe happens to be the number one television event I look forward to each and every year, and so I make this thread for fans!
My predictions:
1. Of all the girls this year, I like Mexico, but she is not tall. Standing alone, she would win, but standing beside the other girls might hurt her.
2. Greece does not appeal to me, but I fully understand how she would be considered a top contenders. She has a shot at winning because she does not speak English. When a beautiful girl talks in a language you do not understand, it only makes her hotter.
3. Canada has produced their finest Miss Universe contender I have ever seen.
4. South Africa
5. Japan
6. Chile. I like her. She may steal the show.
7. My pick to win. Venezuela. In the past, Venezuela has shown class in their picks, always choosing fabulous girls with impressive skills. This year, Venezuela breaks with tradition and picks a beautiful airhead who does not even live in Venezuela.
NOTE TO VENEZUELANS: Please don't flame me. Each and every year, I have cheered for the Venezuelan contenders, except this time. I love the Venezuelans because they usually don't pick airheads like some Latin countries ususlly do (Miss Colombia 2004 a prime example)
Who I WANT to win:
1. Mexico
2. Chile
Who I think WILL win:
1. Venezuela
2. Greece
=====================================
1. Make your predictions
2. Have fun

Suffice to say I would not trade my wife for Miss Greece '05...
A sympathetic and natural looking girl, but no beauty queen in my eyes.
Canada, Chile or Venezuela would make me think seriously.
Who says she does not speak English (Miss Greece, not my wife) ?
Would be strange for a girl who did volunteer work at the Olympics...and for a Miss Universe contestant.

Quoting Iakobos (Reply 2): Who says she does not speak English?
A friend of mine told me she would be competing in Greek. Perhaps she knows some English but not does not feel comfortable enough to compete in the language.
I have found no confirmation one way or another on the internet though.

I'll take Hanna Ek from Finland myself...she's a sports fan and an intellectual too, which is always a bonus...she even beats my favorite SportsCenter reporter, Rachel Nichols.

NUair: you brought up Scandinavians Denmark and Norway, Finland has also been brought up.
I made a search for Sweden, and I was surprised to learn that Sweden is not participating this year because feminist groups have blocked the Miss Sweden pageant. There is no Miss Sweden.
