I found this by accident today, like the Google map you can search the postcode or place where you want to see, and then theres a Satellite view avaliable for that region, its not as "sharp" as the google images but still has some good resolution for much of the UK.
youll first need to type the place your looking for, then click the Aerial option on the toolbar.

It's not actually satellite - it's taken from a plane. You can buy the scenery for flight simulator, which is great! It's just a shame it isn't as detailed as Google, I'd love to be able to zoom in like you can on Google!
