I was third string quarterback and a special teams blocker on my football team... Unfortunately, it was the Homecoming Powder-Puff football team, so we only played one game a year... Junior Ladies vs. Senior Ladies...

I played football for one year, then I realized it was a waste of time and I should be doing other, more interesting things such as academics. At any rate, American football is really Rugby for pussies.

you Aussies that say american football is rugby for pussies are probably spectators of rugby and wouldnt dare strap on a football helmet. Since there isnt a rugby league in america, football is the toughest sport, maybe hockey, but football is more recognized.

Do you realise how much I laughed after reading your post?

First things first. In rugby the players do not wear helmets and 50kg of padding. In other words, they are real men, who can take a belting without having to resort to protection. A number of Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos, and other NFL players, have themselves commented, after seeing a rugby game live in Sydney, that there is NO WAY that they would get out on the field and play Rugby (union or league) without the padding and helmets.

Having said this, both Rugby and Gridiron SUCK to the max. The major problem with both games is the fact that it is always stop start stop start stop start, and two minutes of gametime can drag out to half an hour. If you want a real man's game, try Aussie Rules Football, which is what I play during the winter (position centre half-forward). NO padding, None of this stop start crap (it is a flowing game). Just look at the San Diego Chargers. They poached a garbage Aussie Rules footballer by the name of Darren Bennett, on the basis that Aussie Rules Footballers can kick further than Gridiron and Rugby players.

And for those of you who doubt me. I have played all three games (Aussie Rules, Rugby and Gridiron), and after playing each three, I feel more sore after a game of Aussie Rules, than I do with the others.

Now for you Yanks out there. Unless you have played Aussie Rules, you don't even know the meaning of Football, and really are lost causes.

Cheers

Scotty

Go Darren Bennett! Go Chargers!!!

I have watched Aussie Rules before and I can say I like it more than watching football (in the sense that it is a continuous or "flowing" game). Football in America is also getting way too regulated in how it is played, and I do not like how near the end of a game it takes maybe 20-30 minutes to end because of all the timeouts taken and short plays (plus the networks are bombarding you with commercials every chance they get).

that pretty much sums it up Lion.. american football is for pussys you blokes wear more armour then riot police.. If you get the chance watch some AFL those blokes jump 4 feet high to grab the ball no shit.. and another thing with yank football each player only plays for like 2 or 3 minutes a game no endurance at all..

watch the typical rugby game, these guys are not body builders, have little muscle. American athletes are way stronger and faster than Aussies, with more muscle I might add, it just means you have no brain. Keep in mind that these Aussie players have the IQ that you would see in a 'Fosters' beer commercial. You take a visit to your local mental assylum, you will see them banging their heads against a brick wall also, but wouldnt call them pussies.

yes, florida is crazy bout football. california and new york are the only other states with 3 pro football teams, compare the sizes in population. Dont their high school divisions go up to like 7A or something? I think I saw a couple of 6A teams in the paper while in Jacksonville. Here in nevada it goes up to 4A.
