Hello,
I'm going to be a second year student at UC Berkeley. This summer I'm taking a sociology course at a local community college so I can knock off another annoying prerequisite.
One of our assignments is to survey a social subgroup with a set of questions the class came up with to gauge sociological behaviour and beliefs.
Would you take this survey? It would help out this temporary sociologist. All results from the social subgroups surveyed (others include airline stewardesses, baseball players, and golf course denizens) will be tallyed by this coming Thursday. I will post the results.
The goal: to find the common threads within a subgroup. I'm sure there are some glaring connections between us airline freaks.

12) depends on the individual case. Sometimes it may benefit mostly the family, lifting a burden (emotional as well as financial). In other cases it benefits the patient, relieving him/her from suffering. Also, in some cases it may not benefit either of these, but society by releasing hospital resources to less hopeless cases (why keep someone who has no chance at ever recovering to something resembling a normal life alive in a hospital, costing tens of thousands a month, when others are waiting for years to receive treatment because there are no beds and doctors to help them). I know this is controversial...

Government sponsorship of school sports (which creates god-figures out of those who spend all their time on workouts instead of study) does not help either.
17) marrying the wrong person. Incompatible minds. A mandatory waiting period for fiancees of a year or more would prevent a lot of that.
18) likely. Though probably on American interests abroad as those are easier to target.

In a 1997 survey, most Americans actually claimed to pray... something like 92%. Of those 92%, 90% claimed they prayed daily (something I find hard to believe!)

This is a big shocker to most people. Most people think America is less moral in their time than in the past because of the notion of nostalgia-- there are always those who glorify and reminisce about the past paling in comparison to the present to the impressionable newer generations. "The grass is always greener on the other side, they always say." While attitudes may seem less moral, the fact is: behaviour shows Americans are more moral. The same 1997 survey showed that drug-use was down, alcohol abuse was down, tax compliance was up, religious activity was up, crime was down despite the increase in population, among other things.

If I were in a position to work just for the sake of working (meaning I'm financially full), of course it would be only for self-satisfaction. The truth is though, I need money just to survive. Having more money gives you the freedom to do whatever you want (Reasonably).
