What's happening with the Spice Girls and Live 8? Are they going to play or has Geldof axed them? Cant find a definite answer when doing a search on google! Anyone know?

Quoting Alcregular (Reply 4): They aren't appearing cos apparently their type of music didn't fit in with the other acts on stage.
You mean, its not to Bob Geldofs taste. Just goes to show what an elitist snob he really is and now billions of people will starve because the spice girls wont play! I mean the line ups are hardly people that are in the charts, when did Paul McCartney last have a hit?

Well said, but one has to remember, hits or not, Sir Paul IS a bit of music history.
I wish they'd let 'em play. I'd believe that ANY music act, would be welcomed, to pull in THEIR particular fan base. How many of the other performers can claim a #1 international hit, or two?????
Plus, I wanna see Geri.....

Superfly, I was hoping that was a joke. Hehe.
Quoting Planespotterx (Reply 10): Dont the spice girls have a Black singer?, maybe Geldof only wants "whites" at his gig, seeming thats who the vast majority are who' he's "invited".
Bob Geldof is a mad racist! You heared it here first.

I'd have actually text if I knew I could have seen the spice girls, just to see if they start bitchin at each other and hair goes flying on stage. Was a sad day when they split up.. (did they actually ever split up?)

Quoting Superfly (Reply 14): I have a feeling that you and I are one of the few people that have Pink Floyd and the Spice Girls in our music collection.
I know I'm digging my own grave here... but I actually have one of the Spice Girls albums. The first I think. It was given to me on a birthday many years ago from some relatives in Denmark (so I couldn't return it in exchange for something else.) I broke off contact with them immediately.
The CD is probably rotting away somewhere in the house.

Right next to Glenn Miller, Ethel Merman, SSgt. Barry Sadler, and The Simpsons.....

Me too.
This reminds me of a stand up comedy routine I heard a few years back. I wanna say it was Dennis Miller, but wouldn't swear to it. He made a joke about something, and the punchline referenced Milli Vanilli. The audience laughed, and he said, "Sure you are laughing, but you probably HAD that first album! And it was pretty good, too, wasn't it?!?!?!"

What's sad/funny is, that when they were on Saturday Night Live, way back when, I watched to see how bad they would be "live". And I was pretty surprised how good they were. IF they were doing an "Ashlee Simpson", and lip synching, they did a damn good job. Shoot, I'd pay to see Geri...uh...I MEAN all of them!
Yes, all of them.

They were actually singing. The Spice Girls had a lot more talent than people thought, they were really good live performers.
In terms of Live 8, they were axed from performing. That pisses me off to no end cause all 5 of them were willing to do it. I'd love to see them all together one last time. Oh well, rumour has it that a "Greatest Hits" is on the way.
