Here's my day today:

1st Period: Gym; we sat around the whole period, I played Halo 2, since another kid brought X-Box to school and a portable DVD player.

2nd Period: Calc; didn't do math, instead we helped out the teachers in the underclassmen student elections for next year.

3rd Period: Euro; watched "Battle of Algiers"

4th Period: Comp Sci: put finishing touches on our Crossfire game (it kicks ass  Wink)

5th Period: Business Ed; sat around

After that, we all got to go home because of the heat.  hyper

How does that work?

Well here in Cali school is out so I've been sitting on my ass outside here by my pool for most of the day...

Thanks,

Matt

The principle basically announced that because of the "dangerous" heat today, we would all be going home early. Basically, just like an early dismissal due to snow, just with different weather conditions.

Funny you should ask, since today was a staff "team building" day. We got on a fancy coach at 8:00 and headed to the Niagara Peninsula for a vineyard tour and wine tasting. We then had a really nice lunch and spent the afternoon at the new Casino.

This is NOT a usual day for me. I'm usually at the office by about 7.15am and usually stay until 6.30pm. Today was a welcome event.

Had a nice 'n sweet 13 hour day, 8 of them spent at the children's hospital in Heilbronn. Quite interesting to see and also motivating; now I have a slight idea of how "fragile" premature infants really are.

1000 - woke up, did nothing until about 1400
1400 - friend visiting family in town calls wanting to go movies, his dad is also included, invitation accepted.
1430 - friend comes to pick me up
1435 - friend's car breaks down a block away from my apartment
1500 - we walk back to my apartment, get my car while his dad waits for tow truck
1530 - got to friend's parents' house and hijack his mom's car to pick up his dad back up on my side of town
1615 - arrive back to my 'hood, wait fifteen more minutes for tow truck
1630 - drive back to friend's parents' house
1700 - grill and eat steaks
1830 - hang out with my friend, as we try to fix his camera, and nurse his 100 lbs. girlfriend from Belarus who wanted to eat a steak like she saw on Tom and Jerry cartoons when she was a kid, so we got her a 20 oz. T-bone. She ate 1/4th of it and got sick.
2030 - came home

This is not exactly what I signed up for when I quit my job a month ago and decided to take it easy until my classes start at UTSA in August, but free steak sure beats a day of listening to customers bitch.

Mine went something like this...

0630 awoken by mum. Conversation went something like this:
Her: Brody
Me: um, hwa...
Her: Are you gonna get up now or will I call you at nine to make sure your awake for your exam...?
Me: No no, I'm gonna get up in a minute to do some maths revision...
Mum: Alright, C'ya later.

0930 Awoken by mum via telephone
1010 turn corner of street to see bus speeding away...Regretting waiting to leave home till 'we belong together' finished...
1020Surprised to see my bus pull up to the stop (The other one was a school bus?). Glad I waited now...
1030 Humming innocently to myself "...When you left,
I lost a part of me.
It's still so hard to believe..." Untill I start getting funny looks from people, including one 'you don't have an 8 octave vocal range so don't pretend you do' look from the woman in the 'happy seat' behind the busdriver. I quickly get over the song...

1100 Seeing the pale faces and frantic flicking of pages around me I start to feel as though I'm not taking this exam as seriously as I should be...
1300 Enter Exam, Calculator void of games and other extra programs
1510 Leave exam with massive smile, knowing I've just aced it and secured my Maths 'A' grade this semester.
1511 Met up with friends in hall of fame, smile still intact only to hear "haha, you dumbsh*t, Didn't you read the instructions? I saw you put ticks in the boxes for the multiple choice questions"
Smile Quivering I question his meaning "Yeah, and...?"
"and it said in size 18 bold type that only crosses - not ticks - would be accepted" - General agreement in group follows.
"F**K, c'ya"

1515Being reassured that I'll recieve the 30 marks for the section by the dean of studies after telling him of my mistake. Smile returns.
1600Got home, glad to be off bus...I had forgotten about my resolve not to sing and awkward looks again followed.
1630 Logged onto A.net
1654Finished curiously long winded response to the what did you do today thread'

...Hopefully I'll get around to RE revision soon...

8:30-10:30 Went to new employee orientation where I learned about health insurance, pension plans, etc. Also filled out oodles of forms.
10:30-11:30 New employee safety orientation where I learned that I have to file a report to risk management for every paper cut I get. They'll be getting a report from me every other day.  ouch   sarcastic
11:30-11:45 Wait for campus shuttle to arrive to take me back to the main area of campus where I work.
12:00 Arrive at work, start up computer, turn on a/c
12:05 Somebody nukes lunch in break room which causes breaker to trip, no more a/c
12:30 Go through files, making a spreadsheet of invoices that I need a purchase order for. Stared out window watching planes on approach to FAI. Saw a pair of Curtiss C-46's and a few 707-based fire fighting planes.
1:30 Finish spreadsheet, go to Wood Center (student union sort of) to grab lunch
1:35 Run into former supervisor who told me that my next job has to be at the library so I can have a job with everything on campus that deals with books (first at museum gift shop where I was in charge of books, then worked at the university's press, now at the bookstore)
1:40 Back in office with my lunch, over half of the missing purchase orders mysteriously arrived in my inbox
1:40-3:00 Went through files again, pulling invoices that I now had the purchase orders for. Talked with supervisor about where to put the a/c so that it doesn't trip the circuit. It's now going by my desk. Yippee! Edited missing purchase order spreadsheet. Ate lunch, stared out window.
3:00-4:30 Input a grand total of 12 purchase orders into the computer. 11 took 5 minutes each, the twelfth took 35 minutes to figure out what went wrong. Spent more time looking out window at strange convention going on outside.
4:30-4:45 Printed report on the above 12 purchase orders and passed them off to the accounting tech, who left at 4:00. Pondered what the heck my job actually accomplishes. Looked out window.
4:45-5:00 Started work on moving the a/c. Got the window set up with the hose outlet, now just need to find empty plug which won't trip the breaker and kill my computer.
5:00 Left for home.

Throughout the day: e-mailed my friend who works on the other end of campus

Pretty much my job is neither creating purchase orders or paying purchase orders, it's just getting purchase orders from the accounting tech, matching them with invoices, putting a few numbers into the computer, then giving the purchase orders back to the accounting tech after stamping them. I'm still not sure what my number inputting accomplishes, but I don't mind as long as I have a nice view and a/c.
