No chance that I'm going to the most hyped-up concert in history. I'm already sick of having to hear references to Live8 every 10 minutes on the radio.
Also, I am questioning the sense of the concert. The main goal of Geldorf was to get the G-8 to drop their debt demands from poor countries. And what did Bush and Blair decide they will do at the G-8 meeting? Just that. Geldorf's wish has already been granted before the concert even takes place. Also, I'll be anxiously looking forward to how much all the superstars donate.

May I take this opportunity to say I despise Bob Geldof and his Make Poverty History campaign. £18M he made in profits last year from his 'Africa Education' bollocks TV documentary and in the last year his Ten Alps production firm has had it's profits increase by 400%. Ahh I just want punch his fugly, deformed face.
Oh and no, I'm not going to this ass fest of a concert.

I totally agree! I cannot stand Bob Geldof, hes arrogant and self righteous. I wonder how much of his wage goes to aid in Africa? I cannot believe he ditched the spice girls saying that they arent popular enough, who wants to see paul f**king mccartney?

I can't stand Bob Geldof either. The problem is he has a cult following of moronic idiots who think they are doing the world good by supporting his actions, yet all they are doing is sustaining his popularity and ensuring that he has a nice healthy retirement.

I won't be going to Live 8, that's for sure. I know someone who is, and I hope he doesn't enjoy it!

The sad thing is, that most of the money raised in the Live Aid Concerts and other fund raisers, ended up lining the pockets of the rogue leaders and having to pay off the warlords in Ethiopa and Sudan. Virtually none of it actually reached these compounds where these people were forced to flee to. And now they want us to donate again. Who's going to watch over this making sure that same result won't happen now.

Ditto. Ditto. Bingo. I agree!

Live8 should actually be boycotted. It's time for Africa to solve its own damn problems which are of its own making. The best the West can do is to unlock the African aid that has been spirited into Swiss bank accounts by corrupt African leaders.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

He's managed to line up a pretty impressive group of musicians for each concert.

And all the money goes to NGOs, not into Government coffers.

So why the vitriol?

I just looked up the line up at hyde park. Bob geldof has included himself in the line up, I mean, he says he wants popular bands to pull in the crowds, what the f**k is he doing playing? I mean can anyone actually remember Bob Geldof EVER being in the charts? In fact can anyone actually name any of his songs? I didnt even know he sang. This is blatent self gloss and arrogant!!! Assuming himself to be as popular as the likes of U2 and Coldplay (or a spice girls reunion)! The reason why he is playing is a bit of self promotion if you ask me!

Well he has to look after one now doesn't he. It should all be renamed, 'Make sure Bob's never in poverty'.

Didn't his band have the word rat in it? I can't name a song by the group but obviously the money supply had run out.

The main stage is supposed to be at the Art Museum steps, and the Ben Franklin Parkway is gonna be totally closed off for fans to mill around in...I think it's going to be one massive logistical nightmare when they pull it off...

I wonder how much money it is going to cost the venue cities governments for police, security, toilet facilities, water, food, emergency medical crews -probably a hell of a lot more than they will make in tax money and income to the tourist facilities (hotels, resturants). Worse, like in Phildelphia, it will chase out all of the regular tourists on the weekend (and site of) our Independence Day (July 4th on Monday). Already word is going out to stay away, with estimates the area in/around the Art Museum will hold maybe up to a couple 100,000 and maybe many times that trying to attend. They should have done what was done with the original Live Aid and held it in stadiums. Besides, most people aren't attending for supporting aid for Africa, they want to get stoned, drunk, party and listen to music. Worse, do you think Bush, the main target of this event will even hear about it or care about 'their' opinion? I doubt it, so to me it is a waste of time. It would have been better to have taken the money involved and donated it via NGO's to aid Africa.
