I just got a DVD burner on my compuyter and everytime I try to burn a DVD it takes a ridiculous amount of time. I burned one last night and it took 13 hours for just a 50 minute clip from my camcorder! Does anyone know why this happens? I know this isn't normal because 13 hours is too much. What software or converter should I use? thanks

Which software are you using and how is it configured? You may have the write speed set at minimum. What is the write speed of your burner? Whatever the case, 13 hours is way too long.

p.s.I use Nero

I use Roxio for mine. Whether the files need to be re-encoded into a different format determines how long it will take. On average, it takes about 20 mins to burn a single layer DVD, roughly about an hour to re-encode a film (let's say). So if you add the two together, there you have it.

Rgds.

If it's a USB burner I'll GARANTEE you are plugged into a USB 1.0 port. If it's an internal, likely there is contention on the bus. Make sure it's the only thing on the IDE channel and try it again.

Software RARELY makes the diference in preformance issue, TRUST ME I deal with this kind of thing DAILY  Wink

First I transferred the video from the camcorder to the computer using firewire(IEEE1394 or w/e). Then I used Ulead DVD Movie Factory. How can I use Nero?
