So, seeing that the "other" NYC meet is happening on some inconvenient dates for me (finals that week), I am considering going to NYC on the 12th-15th which is the weekend following the other meet. So, if anyone is interested....feel free to post away!

I will be going to NYC during the later part of the Summer for the Weekend. I would have loved to have gone this time but I had medical tests that stopped me from going, even though I got time off work for it. Damn, I am so upset, sad, depressed.

If you are coming to NYC and interested in meeting up with some of the local spotters and getting great advice, I highly recommend checking out the forums at http://nycaviation.com/.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Phil, are you one of the mods on NYC Aviation? Is there a link to good spotting sites? I think RJ Pieces sent out some link a while ago about NYC spotting, just wondering if it's somehow linked to your site.

Quoting AC777LR (Reply 18): I hope to make it to NYC this summer sometime. I had a great time last year there. so much to do, yet not enough time to do it in.
Hey Jordan,
I'm thinking about going around Thanksgiving (ours).
We should pack some YYZ kids into a plane and go.

Quoting Canuckpaxguy (Reply 22): I think it's the second weekend in October here in Canada. Monday October 10 is the holiday if I'm not mistaken.
What do you know - you learn something every day on Anet!
Thanks Jordan & George.
Is your thanksgiving meant to celebrate the same thing as the American one?
I've always thought the Americans to be very clever with their holidays, by having then on Mondays or Fridays or Thursdays. Is that how it works in Canada too?

Jase,
You ask interesting questions.
Our holidays often fall on Mondays or Fridays in the summer time to allow for long weekend also. I'm not sure if our Thanksgiving is for the same reason as my neighbours to the south.
I'm curious about the way things work in different places.
For example, a fair few of our holidays fall on fixed dates (1 Jan, 26 Jan, 1 May, 15 Aug, 2 Oct and 25 Dec). But only one that I can think of falls on a fixed day (Good Friday).
We don't have any holidays that are on the first Monday of a month, or the last Friday, or anything like that.
I wish we did though!
And what do you mean by "hijacking" a thread? People do that? How rude.
