Crazy things like this have crossed my mind but I never thought this could actually happen.
I rememeber when I was 9 years old, I fell on my bicycle in a feild next to a Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake (Sistrurus catenatus catenatus). This was back in Indiana.
It's rattle was very loud and it scared the hell out of me!
It was my first encounter with a snake in the wild.
For some crazy reason I was afraid to use the toilet for 3 days.

Hey I was 9 years old and my sisters teased me and said that they swim in the sewer pipes.
Well they were right.
At least water snakes do which northern Indiana doesn't have.

this sets up a great backbone for the best animal-gone-wild film since Tremors!

That quote of his did make me laugh!
I can hear it with a Southern accent;

Woman in Indonesia was attacked by a Reticulated Python (longest, and 2nd-largest snake in the world) through the hole of an outhouse.
Apparently, the snakes frequently take refuge in human outhouses during the night, as the decaying fecal matter supplies them with significantly more heat than does the outside air temperature.

DAMN! Seriously?!? I thought I was the only one who turned on the light in the bathroom before sitting on the throne out of fear that a snake would be in there!
And so now it actually HAPPENS?!? Lovely. I'm taking my 9mm to the can from now on.

Well, just a guess but maybe under the circumstances you didn't need to use the toilet for a while.

well remember when you turn on the light after being asleep or in the darkness, it takes a minute or two for your eyes to adjust. you usually turn the light on for a matter of just not knocking yourself into anything.

I like snakes except for water moccasins. My old neighbor used to call me at least once a week to remove a snake from her house. From my experience I have found that most snakebites are accidental and preventable. I do keep a 9MM hidden *somewhere* close to my toilet but I never thought of using it to kill a snake.

For those of you who are feeling smug that you live in a country that doesn't have a problem with snakes, don't; about 5 yrs ago there was a story in the UK about a woman who found a snake curled up in her toilet, it had escaped from a flat near hers in her block and got into the sewer system.
She had major problems with paranoia after that (unsurprisingly).
