So, GuitrThree Thinks I'm A Racist

In a recent NASCAR-related thread, I made a stereotypical, cliched signed-by post in the following thread:

http://www.airliners.net/discussions/non_aviation/read.main/888562/

My post was:

"Quoting MaverickM11 (Thread starter):
Any Nascar Fans?

No.

Signed,

Those of us with teeth." (reply #4).

GuitrThree's response (reply #7) was, in part:

"Yea... very typical of Logan...

First, he shows his usual racism, or in this case, bias against the people he hates so much in the south (the teeth comment)."

Now, I'll admit, I like to take the mickey at the south every chance I can, but it was, I hope you will agree, just a juvenile "joke."

For GuitrThree to accuse me of being a racist (not just a racist, but a member who demonstrates "usual racism") rather surprised me. From what you members have read of mine, do you agree? BTW, I just spent the last three days in DC, meeting many experts in my field from all over the US and the world, including people from Texas, Florida, Kentucky and other southern states. I have nothing but the utmost respect for them. BTW, the people in DC were very friendly, and genuine.

Logan

P.S. - Delta767300ER's comment (reply #6): "Logan, Take your stereotypical views and shove them up your ass," while a bit offensive, is completely acceptable to me. He said, basically, "screw you." That's fine. GuitrThree basically committed slander against me.

Now, let's see how long this thread, and the previous thread, last, as the Mods scurry into action.

Regardless of how I feel about your comment, you should know that here on airliners.net "racist" means "someone who says something I don't like about someone or something".

Logan may be a communist with homosexual tendencies, but he's no racist.

He's prejudiced as hell, but who here ain't?

Iakobos....the infidels from the north of the US seem to take great glee at describing the southerners as toothless country bumpkins who can't spell the word grammar, much less use it in a sentence.

They are, of course, compensating for their own shortcomings in the areas of hygiene and cultural sophistication.  Wink

While I don't post a lot, I can assure you that I read a lot of stuff here on A.net. From what I have read, I have no reason to believe that you are a racist.

Its fun to poke fun at people now and then. But there are many other important non verbal factors that can not be communicated very well with text- trust me, I have been in hot water several times making jokes through emails and IMs. I also believe that many people will write stuff here that they would never say to someone's face because of the anonymity factor and that there aren't any severe repercussions for speaking ones mind.

It's a general stereotype. More poor in the south than on the coasts of the the US. Watch "Deliverance" and you'll see what I mean. I really meant no harm, and I seem to have stirred up the pot.

So, Larry, I ask you: Have you ever seen or heard anything in my posts that could be construed as "racist?" I may blow the south some shit, but Ian, from Atlanta, is a well respected comrade.

My point in this thread was to expose GuitrThree as a knee-jerk conservative who resorted to slander to make his point.

"Quoting Ian:" Logan may be a communist with homosexual tendencies, but he's no racist.

He's prejudiced as hell, but who here ain't?

I am a socialist, not a communist, and I have no homosexual tendencies. Prejudiced? No, just basing my bashing on stereotypical observations. I have no pre-judgement in my mind.

Edited to refute Ian's far more egregious comment than mine in the NASCAR thread.  Wink

Yes, I saw it... in stereo and Panavision.
There was another instructive one with a beautiful Northern actress and abominable Southern (caiman) poachers filmed in the Everglades I think.
It's all clear now, thanks.

SUperfly and I agree completely here, and on a semi-political issue!

Oh Lord, they are ice skating in Hell right now!

Impugning NASCAR fans is not racist.....it's silly and prejudicial, but not racist. Too many people use that term without considering its true meaning, thereby diminishing it's force when properly used.

Can we go back to making dirty jokes about Logans sexual orientation now? Or pick on the Coz?

Well, to be accurate, I was knocking the toothless, inbred NASCAR fans. God, I guess I have to post a  Wink so the sensitive among us can understand.

That still doesn't make me racist. Just a ball-busting Yank. We did win the Civil War, you know.

Several things:

Question: Are you racist? Your Answer: No. Recommendation: Screw, don't sweat it.

First off, Logan,
I must say that I respect the fact that you didn't run and hit the "suggest delete" button about my post, and instead, you engaged in a debate. And not only that, there was no cursing involved!! I really wish that would happen more.

That being said,
maybe "racist" was a little "rough," but you are biased, and you have admitted it. I don't know why you hate the people of the south so much. Well, maybe I do, because they elected Bush twice now, but the main fact of the matter YOU are the one that spouts off in "slander."
By saying that NASCAR fans don't have teeth, joke or not, opens you up to criticism. You lit the gas, I only turned it up.
As I already did say in the original NASCAR thread, more than 50% of the races on the NASCAR circuit take place out of the deep south, many out in the far west and north. However, you either didn't know this fact or you were showing your "bias" towards those in the south by ignoring that fact just to show your immaturity. Wait, did I just expose you as a knee-jerk comedian who tells stupid jokes that a four year old would tell? Sorry.

Logan, the point of my post was just to once again say that this country is made up of many people, and I'm sorry to say, they all don't act, talk, look, or vote like they do in your great "never do wrong" state of Massachusetts.

NASCAR provides thousands upon thousands of jobs, from the race track to the TV and radio markets, to the producers of HDTV equipment they sell to all of those fans who have "no teeth." It provides jobs to all those that race, work, and make parts for the cars. It brings in BILLIONS of dollars every year to this country, and every state here benefits in one way or another.

So all I'm saying, is, that in the future, if you don't have anything of value to say about the post, please, keep your biased posts off here, or someone will turn up the gas  hot

Oh, I do owe you something,

I finally got my user name in a post!!!! YEPEE!!  eyepopping

Seriously, I do owe you an apology, yes, racist was a very wrong term to use. I do mean that sincerely. But, like I said, you are biased against those of us in the south, and I quite frankly find it hard to believe that you spend so much time bashing your very own citizens of this country. I'm at a loss to why you think that is funny.

I bet you won't do it so much if Hillary takes a few Southern Red states in '08, now will you???

Very true. The NASCAR crowds have become more diverse in recent years.

I don't car for NASCAR simply becasue there is nothing 'stock' about those cars. What's so exciting about a shell of a Malibu or Taurus with tons of stickers mounted to a customized race car?

Perhaps if NASCAR returned to using stock cars as they are on on the dealership lots then that would be exciting!  bigthumbsup

Suprfly.....well, 2 questions....

1. How do you know where the gay bars are in NYC?

2. What are you? A homophobe? Just because Johnboy wants to hold your hand a little doesn't mean anything.....in the middle east men kiss each other hello.

Won what? Won the fact that he dislikes people in the south?? Humm???

It's like my cousin by marriage who got a divorce. She won the one thing she wanted the most, her beloved Dodge Dakota Pickup. She got it!! She won!
However, she now owes 4 and a half years of payments on that truck...

Sometimes winning isn't worth the prize. And trust me, showing yourself as a biased person towards your own citizens, isn't much of a prize. But, as the liberal left is learning in DC, sometimes you just have to take what you can get and call it a day.

I do not hate the people of the south. It has nothing to do with Bush, either. And, for your edification, slander is directed at an individual, by definition. For me to blow some shit at southerners is not slander. For you to pinpoint me as a "racist," is. Plain and simple. The definition of slander is limited to PERSONAL attacks or accusations.

Let me draw an analogy from the immortal "Muffins" thread:

http://www.airliners.net/discussions/non_aviation/read.main/827744/4/

Reply #34: "Quoting Banco (Reply 33):
What the bloody hell is an English muffin?

We Americans coined the term. It's a grain-based food substance that makes your teeth crooked.

Logan"

His reply (reply #35): "Quoting Logan22L (Reply 34):
We Americans coined the term. It's a grain-based food substance that makes your teeth crooked.

Really? I thought it was food that made you incredibly fat. After all, you eat them and we don't. "

See? THAT'S how you respond to the bullshit like I have dealt. If you can't take it light-heartedly like Banco and throw it back without resorting to slander, you are going to have a long, painful life, my friend.

Peace
