Today Pedro Martinez was 5 outs away from not only winning the game but he was 5 outs away from pitching a no hitter. Not only did he not get the no hitter, he and the Mets lost the game!  mad

In the 8th inning Antonio Perez tripled off the center field wall. The Mets center fielder Gerald Williams could of caught the ball but he misplayed the ball BADLY, he jumped way to early for the ball! Next batter Jayson Werth hits a game winning 2 run home run.

Trade the dude to Kansas City. He'll fit right in there.  Big grin

Gerald Williams did kick Perdo's ass a few years back when he played for the Rays...

That's about all he's good for though

Pretty much. Dragon-wings, if you haven't yet figured out that this was the platonic essence of a Mets game, I don't know what to tell you....

You Met fans give up too easy, you gotta look at the bright side.....at least Piazza's better at throwing out base stealers than Jason Phillips..........or is he???!!! rotfl

But isn't it nice to be out of the Murph, and playing in Petco? That place is nice.

Mets fans, you guys have a (semi)-legitimate excuse in that you're in the toughest division of the MLB this year, bar none.

Look on the bright side, guys...you're not in the LOL NL WEST.

The Padres are AT .500, thank you very much. The NL West may be the weakest division in the majors, but the point is, the Pads are still in 1st place. They've been doing much better in the last two weeks or so, and I think they'll finish the season at least 10 games over .500.

It'd be funny if the Pads, who finished 3rd last year with an 87-75 record, finished 1st this year with a lower record, but it seems like that's likely to happen...

I wonder if I should feel bad that the Diamondbacks have a bad record right now, or if I should feel good that they are only 56-64, but 4 games back in the mild mild West?

And as far as Mets fans go, there's always something to look up to:

Then again, the only Braves world title recently was at the expense of my beloved Tribe.  Sad

And you guys don't know suffering till you follow Cleveland sports. Talk about suffering. (Cueing KROC for the obligatory hit at C-Town...).

The most dangerous thing to do in sports is to fish on the Cuyahoga River.

As for that Braves propaganda. There is no place for that in a Mets thread.  Wink

Sad thing is, if both teams swapped rosters and every former Met was playing in Atlanta, they'd win the division, but all those former Braves would get injured and forget how to field the ball in Shea stadium.

How's that Zambrano for Kazmir trade working out for ya?

And I'll take watching soccer on ice any day over watching the grass grow at a baseball game...
