I have seen others post similar questions so I thought I would try.

I am currently in New Hampshire and tomorrow I will start my drive back to Milwaukee. In order to make The drive more interesting I am heading north. I plan to spend one night in Ottawa, then two nights in the Algonquin Provincial Park, and another two nights in Toronto before heading back to Milwaukee.

I have a rough sketch of what I want to do but I am looking for local opinions as to what to do, where to eat/drink, and where to sleep. Bargain and off the beaten track places are appreciated.

Any recommendations, and or suggestions?

You might want to send a PM to Vaporlock. She loves Algonquin Park.

Ottawa is a gorgeous city and has lots of good stuff to see. There are tons of museums. One of my favourites was the Currency Museum at the Bank of Canada. Very interesting. There's also a great aviation museum. You certainly won't be able to do everything in one day.

I'll leave the Toronto advice to the guys and girls who live there. I lived in Ottawa, but that was 13 years ago, so I'll leave specifics to the locals there too.

Obviously, if you're hitting TO, the CN Tower is THE tourist attraction in town. The you've got the Royal Ontario Museum, the Ontario Science Centre, Black Creek Pioneer Village (a little north of town). Tons more but that's just what I can reel off the top of my head real quick.

Check out Tourism Toronto. They can probably give you the best idea of what's around to see/do.

MKEdude: Welcome to Canada!

It doesn't sound like you've got a lot of time to spend in each place, so I'll give you some of the highlights. While in Ottawa, park the car near Byward Market and take yourself on a walking tour around the Parliament buildings and surrounding area along the canal. Also, while in the "market" --- you must get a beavertail. (No, it's not a Canadian prank, it's a tradition!)

At night Byward Market can be a happenin' place with lots of people enjoying good times. There's also a great casino just across the river in Gatineau, Quebec. (Chateau Lac Lemay) if you're into that sort of thing.

As for Algonquin -- gosh -- it really all depends on where in Algonquin you stay. I'll defer that to Vaporlock.

In Toronto, well the world's your oyster. You can do whatever you want! If you want to check out some of the touristy spots, take MattRB's advice.

If you want great dining, you're definitely in the right city:
China town is along Spadina (near Dundas).
Little India is along Gerrard Street (west of Coxwell).
Greek Town is on Danforth (near Pape).
Little Italy is on College Street (west of Bathurst).

There are also pockets of trendy areas all over depending on what you're into:
Yorkville (North of Bloor, West of Bay): High-end shopping and dining. Movie stars and other celebrities are often spotted here.
Entertainment District, (King and John Sts.) for the big clubs and bars.
The 'Gaybourhood', (Church and Wellesley), if you're so inclined.
Ontario Place is a theme park (Lakeshore Boulevard West) near the CNE.
The CNE (aka 'The Ex') starts on Friday the 19th (Canadian National Exhibition). There are lots of rides and games and things to do.
Paramount Canada's Wonderland is a short drive north of the city (Hwy 400 and Major Mackenzie Drive) if you want huge roller-coasters and a water-park.

Enjoy Canada and come back again soon.
